moray james
right here and at Audio Karma are your two best options. Past that you can set up some Google alerts which will automatically post to you as soon as a posting is made with your topic heading or part there of. Yes that can be a lot of daily mail but you get an immediate heads up to units posted for sale. You can set up a separate contact mail account so you home mail does not get swamped. Good luck and best regards Moray James.
Deang
You can use a K-55-M, which is virtually identical to the K-51-V
Daddy Dee
i might have missed what you diagnosed as the problem with your driver. unless you have ruled it out, it is possible that it could be put back in service with a new diaphragm. USNRET
I got this from my last stock Belle K-500 mid horn; 6.5 and 11.6 ohms Edited April 28, 2014 by USNRET
djk
Orange County Speaker can repair slipped magnets, then replace the diaphragm.
Deang
The K-51-V is the Atlas Sound ceramic version of the dual phase plug K-55-V. (Alnico). EV cloned the driver, and since it cost less money, Klipsch adopted it instead of the K-51-V. This driver became the K-55-M.
mike stehr
https://community.klipsch.com/uploads/monthly_04_2014/post-12530-0-99100000-1397784811.jpg I thought the plastic cover around the driver/magnet was torn, but the driver still measured okay. Maybe take some two-part epoxy or some such and fill in the tear, try to approximate the texture, clean it up and hit with a light coat of satin black. If it is still functional and sounds fine...why not? It'll be hidden a cabinet. Edited April 29, 2014 by mike stehr
djk
" EV cloned the driver" The K51V was unique, the PDMR was the Atlas driver that EV cloned, it had what looked like a metal ashtray attached to the back of the driver. Every K51V I ever had to service had a slipped magnet.
beeker
Educational thread!...interesting indeed! I got this from my last stock Belle K-500 mid horn; 6.5 and 11.6 ohms So one midhorn is or was "6.5ohms" and the other midhorn is or was "11.6ohms"? Just curious about the fact they varied in ohms please? Thank you for your time answering...

Since I showed the tweeter and the midhorn still mounted to the Belle's motorboard I posted the values for both: K-77 was 6.5 and K-55 was 11.6. The K-500 was referring to the horn model. Deang
I had my information scrambled up slightly. The K-51-V was Atlas' answer to EV's K-55-M. They both have ceramic magnets and dual phase plugs, but they are not interchangeable. Sorry!

Deang
Well, there's a lot to remember. I have to go to the really old dudes to keep it straight.
Gilbert
Yes, that is correct, the magnet housing is cracked. And glad you commented on the diaphragm, reason being I'm wondering what the implications are for changing out the diaphragms to "new"in an "old" driver? Will the difference be discernible (to an old guy like me...) Dean, is the K-55-M really close? It has also been recommended to use a K-55-X....same, same? Thanks for your help. Oh, and one more thing....the K-55-M's are around $120 per pair, just for the diaphragms.....better to just get a whole new driver? Get a hold of BEC, he'll take care of you.
