And the final product the screen installed and mounted with the LCR and dual JTR captivator S2 subwoofers tucked neatly in their alcove out of sight. Viewing distance from the screen is 12.6 feet with the projector a full 2 fee further back at 14.6' recessed behind me. The screen is massive in the room and gives the sense of immersion you get in a IMAX theater which was what i was going for.

Okay Michael.

I know where I am going on vacation next year, to your house. :D   I have always wanted to visit Charleston.  Not today of course with a heat index of 109F. :o

I here Charleston is like a larger Savannah, which I love to visit.

Bill

Bill,

Ditto!!  Traveled to Savannah and Charleston in early Sept. 2013.  Could not have been more perfect in terms of weather, beach, sights, and enjoyment (wife and I).  While I have settled in the Midwest (St. Louis area), my (parental) roots are from SC and GA.  Actually, was a '68 grad of USC (the real one, in Columbia, ha ha).

Anyway, not to detract from/change the nature of the thread, just want to express my admiration also of those two splendid cities!

So far it works beautifully I have only watched 16:9 content to test it out and adjust the projector (I need to add photos of the screen with the masking panels on for all to see). I haven't tried any 2.35:1 content as I'm waiting on my anamorphic lens. I don't think the zoom method would be good to test on it since It is so large

Attached are a few photos with the acoustic transparent masking panels in place they slide in and magnets take hold to the screen Frame on the sides top and bottom the material is called Millbel and it is nearly identical to the screen itself The frame of these is made out of aluminum same as the frame of the screen and it is bordered with a 2 inch velvet premium border same as the frame to match.

You might be surprised.  Why not try it?  You have nothing to lose.  Then you can share your thoughts on the differences between the "Poor Man's Anamorphic Setup" and a dedicated Anamorphic Lens with Sled.  :D

Also I will give a review in detail over the difference of using the lens and using the zoom method I know that supposedly the anamorphic lens adds 20% brightness and 30% resolution utilizing all of the black pixel dead space on the top and bottom of the screen

May i ask how much such a screen would set me back?

And Can you play 3D film on it?
