How to look "cool" in the 50s

No question that James Dean epitomized "cool" back then.  I found these commercials for Wildroot which will give everyone a good laugh:

They used to advertise that the stuff wasn't greasy.  That's a joke.  I can't count the number of times I ran my hands through my hair (helped me think about service solutions) and then tried to remove a tube only to have my fingers slip off of the glass!  But, with it all, I really miss those days (especially servicing all of those Fisher, Scott, and other units when they were new!).  There was a general sense of optimism which doesn't seem to exist any longer.  Maybe it's just me being nostalgic.........

A friend sent me this picture to remind me about how I looked back in the old days (and used Wildroot Cream Oil by the quart which, to my amazement, is still available!):

Now, of course, I have almost no hair on top of my head so I guess I can't be cool any more! :D
