SOLD: Aletheia Audio Crossovers - Cornwall Type B2

I've gone back and forth on this system and decided to dismantle after all. These are about 3.5 months old, contain Jupiter Condenser flat stack caps, wax impregnated coils and autotransformers, teflon coated litz wire, and magic pixie dust - all courtesy of Dean. These were built for exterior use so the only mod you'll need to do is drill holes for mounting inside your cabinet.

Once these sell I'll part out the rest of the speakers.

$700 shipped and pp'd, offers welcome. SOLD

Those 4 Jupiter caps alone would run about $400  if they were still making them.  If you're a  Cornwall lifer, you need to find a way to get these. They're have a very neutral, uncolored, un-emaphasized sound that allows everything in the given music to be heard. No grain and its like they erase compression.  Find a way Cornwall owners, the only thing that would come close would be $2K+ for Teflon Caps or Duelunds.

Hard to believe these are still available.

If you have Crite's Cornscalas and have the 700 bucks jump on these now! Sure, Crite's xover are fine but these are in another league.

Wonder how much better these are as compared to my SuperX?    Hmmmmmmm

Emil, these will only work in a CornScala that uses the K-55 for midrange drivers. Different tweeters can be dealt with by using Al's attenuators.

So Michael, did you primarily pick these up due to aesthetics? I ask because they are identical to yours in design. I mounted your capacitors differently because I felt they needed more support since they were being installed in their original location. These were located outside of the speaker.

Speaking of which, no Cornwall network I've built using the 3670 and new low pass coil should be mounted on the side of the speaker with just two screws - they are just too heavy. I've been having users sit them along the bottom, and rewire with Supra wire from Madisound.

The wax in the Jupiters, or the oil in Jensens, provides some sort of damping effect that quiets things down. I understand that this sounds somewhat unscientific, but there you go. It's actually what you don't hear that makes these so nice, and Max did a very good job of describing the results.

I built up a very nice set of AAs using the best film type available, and though the sound is very good, it just doesn't compete very well when compared head on with the Jupiter build -- which I had sold off so I could experiment. I've been slowly saving in order to build up another set to replace the ones I sold, and I just put the order in yesterday. It's been very stressful watching the days pass, wondering if I would have the money before the inventory completely dwindled.

I still like the Jensens, which sound excellent, though a little darker, undoubtedly due to the increased ESR. No matter, I prefer them quite a bit over any axial wound film type (and I've tried just about all of them). I've been told by a few that the Mondorf S/G/O sound excellent -- a cap I haven't tried.

Jupiter's axial wound replacement is coming out soon, and I'm sure to be building with them -- I can only hope that they deliver the same jaw dropping performance as the Flat Stack.

I got these dean because... well... they are so damn superb. I highly doubt there will ever be a better XO for the CW and really, now I own two sets.  They are worth every penny. I still am between commitment on a different larger heritage, so it's cornwall for me for a while. rest assured when the time comes my friend... the phone call will also come.

one thing I did notice dean is Michael "dayton" is different than what was in my original layout...

It doesn't get better than that Schu.   Wait until you get 200-300 hours on them, it seems some have said they will be fully open at that point. That is if you are one that believes caps break in.

I have three more sets to build and then I'm all caught up, at that point I can start working on my Jupiter AAs -- and I'm pretty pumped. I also have something else in here that I haven't had in a while - a nice KT-88 based integrated amp. It's been here a week and I haven't even had the time to open the box yet!
