Klipsch Chorus - $175 OBO (Kansas City, MO)

Moving and can no longer keep these Klipsch Chorus speakers. The cabinets need some work as they were painted black by cheap paint so that is peeling. The speakers work great but these were sitting in my garage for a few years without use and upon plugging them back in - tweeters are blown. They sound fine otherwise.

$175 OBO.

No affiliation.  Look rough, bad paint job and the tweeters are blown.  Still worth it.

Those would be perfect for me even though they are C-1's.  I've found I like restoring speakers and I'd like to play with some inexpensive Chorus II's.  They are way too far away for me to try to get them.

The Chorus will blow your mind. After the blown tweets are fixed. Shouldn't last too long.

Picking them up in the morning. Buck fifty  :)

Will my old tweeter diaphragms from the KLF-30's fit the Chorus?  Drop in replacement, I think?

Congrats, let us do the research. Be right back Matthews... :)

Well, they are both K-79-K's 1 inch:

You may have just pulled off a coup...good for you if so!

I spoke with forum member, Rick, last week about these.  He actually looked at the speakers and said the cabinets are shot.

With out seeing the speakers yet, my plans are to first get the tweeters up and running.  Hopefully it is no more than putting the original diaphragms out of my KLF-30's in the Chorus.

Actually thinking this would be a great winter project.  Going to build my own, custom cabinets.  Make em' look pretty too :P

Only a forum member, such as us, would get excited about driving hours to pick up someone else's discard.

Updates soon...

Geeze, I knew the Chorus were a bigger speaker.  Not sure I realized how big.  Those are KLF-30's behind them...

Not bad for a Buck-Fifty :P

So, my plans...

1st to replace the diaphragms with the ones I pulled from the KLF's

Next, FIND SOMEONE (hint-hint) who can make new motor boards for me from Birch.

Plan on building completely new cabinets for these from Birch.  I can make the other cuts and fab everything together.  I just need someone to help me with the fronts.  Want them to be near perfect and would rather pay someone than make multiple trips to pick up more wood...

Final finish will be clear poly, grill less.

Yes man, 90 lbs. each. Something wrong with the motorboards?Check your connections first by pulling each x-over and retightening the tweeter connections as inactivity and minor corrosion may be the problem. May as well, unless it is the diaphrams, for sure.

What will you do with the disemboweled 30s?

Jim, the 30's are to remain until further notice.  It may be a few months to final completion on the Chorus.

Something wrong with the motorboards?

Billy, since I am building new cabs, I want the motorboards to match the finish of the cabinets. They will be in Birch.  I think they will be a nice piece when complete.  Gonna take some time...
