Derrick
I lost my best friend yesterday. He had all of the opportunities in life and missed nothing. Still difficult to deal with. I love music’s ability to console and educate. I take solice in the poems of the greats. RIP my friend.

Derrick
Thank you DizRotus. Much appreciated. It is only occasions like this that we reflect on what is really important in life. I’m sure that many of us have found medicine in our music. I know I have.

Ceptorman
Sorry to hear this Derrick. Treasure the memories. I have a Dan Fogelberg album, it's not my normal type of music. But when I listen to it, it takes me back 40 years ago when life was simpler. I can't really describe the feeling, just relaxing.

garyrc
The memories will help with the healing. They will never go away, but eventually, if not now, memories of your friend will themselves become your friends, in a way. As you say, they will help you stay in tune with what is really important in life. I lost three good friends, so far, two of natural causes, and one murdered. Memories of serious and mirthful moments come unbidden, and remind me of why these people were my friends. May they all rest in peace, all of our departed friends.
