Invidiosulus
@Marvel This picture was a while ago but Father Tim said he was so engrossed in playing guitar that he hadn’t noticed his nephew was stealing his beer. 1
Marvel
That's a beautiful guitar... it could really get you involved in the music and distracted.

Marvel
I've been eyeing this Alvarez Yairi for a while. It's a DYMR70SB, a 12 fret neck, rosewood back and sides. I love the slope shoulder guitars. Sweetwater has it discounted about $700, but that's still about $2000 too high. I need it like I need a hole in my head... but the Yairis a beautiful instruments.

YK Thom
I used to play 40 years ago, was never particularly good but enjoyed it. Life marriage and everything else pushed playing right off the table. A friend of mine here in Yellowknife is moving down to the south Monday on a one year secondment (he's a fed). He is leaving a couple of his guitars with me for both storage and to practice on. If I'm able to pick it back up and enjoy it, I have my eye on a G&L ASAT. He will be dropping them, and a small modelling amp off later today.
Marvel
Caught up with a friend of mine from Wisconsin. He sent me pics of a guitar he had built by a local to him luthier. Sinker redwood top with cocobolo back and sides. he came up with the idea for the inlay on the headstock. You have to ignore the reflection of the fluorescent lights on the finish.

My old favorite was this Mesa/Boogie MkIII combo with the EVM-12L speaker. Seen here with a couple of Ibanez RG’s I used to own. They were (and still are if you can find them), pretty nice guitars. Also has a rather flat bottom. (I got this pic off the web) My first " good " guitar was a Harmony. 67 ...maybe

Invidiosulus
There is potential here. I needed something a little lighter than my Jazz Basses. The stock el-cheapo strat pickup is pretty bad. I’ll probably route the body for standard size J-bass pickups and repaint it.
Invidiosulus
Rearranged the two jazz basses to combine the parts I like. I really like the no pickguard, no screw holes look on this body.
Marvel
Make sure to pick up the bass before you mow... Looks pretty nice

JJkizak
I tried to play the guitar once. I could play the "A" and "C" cord but when I tried "F" I said to myself---"This is bullshit". My fingers couldn't reach that cord without the bones separating. JJK

What's not to like about a slope shoulder, mahogany, steel string? If it was a 14th fret you could challenge a J45. The Yairi costs a lot more though. Perhaps you like the Martin DSS-17 better...
