MacWorks
Howdy, I have a tube and solid state amp used with a Schitt Freya+ going to a pair of Cornwall III's. I'd like to switch to my solid state when not doing any serious listening during the day. Can anyone recommend an affordable A/B switch that will do the job? Thanks in advance

MEH Synergy
Don't know exactly what your Inputs and outputs are, but in my case, I have successfully used custom XLR Y cables with good results. No noise. As long as one amp is off and the other is on, there were no issues at all.
captainbeefheart
Two of these would be neato. Speaker side goes to the middle lugs, the two outer lugs to each amplifier. https://www.sciencelabsupplies.com/Knife_Switch_Double_pull_double_throw.html
seattleguy
The SOLUPEAK P2 is what I recently purchased to switch between my tube and solid state amps. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093GSS8P7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

USNRET
Niles SPK-1 to switch between VRD tubes and McIntosh SS as long as one of your amps has a 12 volt trigger

They're under $20.
muel
Be careful with the tube amp... I know that some require a speaker load at all times while powered on. Might check to see if that is the case for yours.
MacWorks
The SP 1 Amplifier/Speaker Selector looks great but a little too high at $220. The SOLUPEAK P2 looks decent but I dont understand in either case, how you connect your RCA from the amp to the banana plugs.
seattleguy
Amps typically have speaker outputs, not RCA level output. You connect each amp's L and R speaker outputs to the switch, then the switch to the speakers.
babadono
Let's be clear here @MacWorks you want to switch your pre amp to amp AND amp to speaker? Or just one of either of these? And which one?
Toz
Sounds like you will need an RCA switch box for your source at the front end of your amplifiers and the Amp/Speaker/Amp switch.
MacWorks
The goal was to to just switch amps, not preamp with one pair of speakers. So in looking into this, @muelwas right, my tube amp requires speaker load. A switch will not be a good fit for me.

This one will provide a load for tube amps. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0796KGVXT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=
babadono
It can be done, you need a 4PDT switch from each channel. Or of course an 8PDT Or..or..or...just make sure you never turn the tube amp on when it is not the selected amp to speaker.
