OT: What's your favorite website, other than Klipsch.com?

This is one additional place (other than Klipsch) that I visit every day. Offbeat information usually. Uncle Cecil writes a new column several times a week. Sometimes the daily column is supplemented from the archives. The archives are fascinating to browse answering some of the most important questions in the universe. For example: what is is that causes wintergreen lifesavers to spark when crunched in the dark?

Also consult snopes.com when I get some odd e-mail story. Excellent site debunking urban legends variations and hoax e-mails.

So where do you surf to?

Best wishes for the New Year!

Is it accptable to post porn sites?2.gif

It all depends on what I'm into at the time. If I'm into graphics, I got to a lot of photoshop websites, if I'm into woodworking, I go to a lot of woodworking websites, if I have a Jeep ideas tickling my fancy, I got to a lot of Jeep sites.

It's one mans rants, if you scroll through it a bit, but I've been following it for a coupple years or so and it's very interesting.

Just to forewarn you, it's out on the edge a bit. has some curse words.

It's basically a story of this guys life, as he sees it, updated on a somewhat regular basis.

Interesting thread/question as I've been here for a while now and was going to share something.

Are there any "TBN'ers" here??? For those of you who have no clue what I just spoke of,

http://www.tractorbynet.com/

might sound like a borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring place to go... but think about it, who might own a tractor with a parcel of land?

Farmer?

Physician?

Engineer?

Teacher?

City worker?

Lawyer?

Accountant?

...ad nauseum...

I've been a member there since it's inception (1995 or so) and let me tell you, it is chock FULL of the most interesting, helpful, nice, SMART people that you might find (I make no reference to myself in that crowd). one thing that makes it interesting is, you can pose a "life question" there (I need help to build "X", or I have isues with my, car, tractor, computer (you name it))

Because the breadth of people literally encompass ALL walks of life, you will almost undoubtedly find SOMEONE who has an idea of what your answer might be.

Case in point, I recently installed Intuits Quickbooks Pro 2005. I had a bug installing it and called their tech help. I was (I swear this is true) on the phone with them over the course of 2 days, for about EIGHT hours. One single call was 3 hours long, and another one was 2 hours long.

He finally concluded that they couldn't help me, so I wanted to speak to a supervisor. That's a 24 hour turnaround (btw, they've YET to return that call 7.gif ) Anyways, at that point I thought, why not post this on TBN, so I gave them my problem. Within probably 30/45 minutes, someone had "an idea" of what the fix might be, I looked into it (deleting a certain pre-existing file), found the file, deleted it and BAM, worked just fine. Now, why couldn't Intuit's technical help people know that THEIR pre-existing file, might cause this issue?? (I upgraded from prior version)

That is but a silly example and I also know that I've not been here long enough for anyone to get a clue about me and my voracity. I have also not been one to "give" to this forum, as much as I've been a reader/asker/learner.

As such, no one has any reason to give what I say, too much creedence, and that's ok by me.

I'll repeat it again... if you want to visit what I belive to be THE MOST diverse, helpful, civil, friendly site, then I urge you to go to http://www.tractorbynet.com/.

Let me put it this way, since I've been there for nearing 10 years, THIS site is the only other site I've found that really starts to give it a run for the money on how nice/friendly everyone is.

Had I been HERE for 10 years, and THERE for 8 months, I'd probably have the commentary reversed. I DO see WAY more OT conversatons there that are no where near, tractor related, but life related.

Try it... if you proceed with open mind and explore some of the other corners of it (rural living, related topics...) you WILL see an incredible volume of information and a bunch of diesel smelling good people.

(do I mean, good people that smell diesel, or do I mean good people that smell LIKE diesel... hmmm....)

Boom3,

You go to archive.org too? Heh. I love that website.

www.archive.org has hundreds of Grateful Dead shows, all that can be downloaded without signing up and for free.

Ah, what a great website it is! They have a lot of other artists as well - with their live shows that can be downloaded for free.
