Microsoft has a new SpyWare app... Picks up stuff that Ad-Aware misses

"Bill" doesn't want you to use those old apps (98, ME, 95, BOB,2000) for home use. He want's you to use XP. That's why XP has Hyperthreading, etc. and every driver known to man within the application. He doesn't want you to use 2000 for video and that's why it does not support Hyperthreading. He is slowly closing the software apps to make them compatible for one OS and that would be XP. Win2K is for servers and is designed for that. He is now mad at Symantec (Norton) so you will see anti virus and a lot of firewall stuff for free in the future.

I don't blame Microsoft for wanting to close the gap on their OSs. Think about how much it must cost them to support all the flavors of Windows that exist. I'm a software engineer and I can tell you trying to maintain backward compatibility is a lot of work.

Oh and for now, i'd not get rid of your previous scanner. I found that there are some things this new scanner from Microsoft is not picking up.... But, it's still beta anyway. I'm sure that it will be more complete once it's done.

Quote "Microsoft wants the user to input the product code on something they are GIVING AWAY??? Go figure.

They are such 500lb gorillas. "

Yahoo, Google, lavasoft and other giving similar software away have also asked for feddback regarding the GUI and functionality. Does that make them 5 pound chimps?

Since we're talking about spyware/adware removers, I have a question. I usually scan my system with either Spybot or Ad-aware, then use the removal function to delete the spyware/adware programs or files it detects. If I then run Spybot or Ad-aware immediately again, it frequently detects (again) the files that I have supposedly just deleted. What's going on here? Are these removal programs working or not??
