Coytee
Well, I did it. I just hung up after ordering a pair of Jubilees and the EV DX-38 to go with them. [<)]

rplace
Congrats! How long of a wait? I bet it will feel 3Xs longer
Coytee
Frankly, I didn't ask. I'd bet you're accurate. I was told if I had my order in within the next 5 days or so, it would be on the upcoming build which I THINK is fairly soon.
DrWho
awesome and the EV is the same thing Roy is using?

jwc
Nice. I held off on ordering them for now. But really want to know what you think they sound like compared to your Khorns in your home. It was difficult for me to order them when I only heard a handful of songs on them. May reconsider later. So you are going 2-way with the big horn? Unfinished or textured black? Gonna run off the the MC2102? jc
Coytee
I'll be going 2 way with the big horn, yes. Probably get the textured black? (I didn't discuss that) I intend on using the 2102 for the high end and a dbx amp for the bottom. Was thinking about using the MC-30's but had to make a choice & flipped a coin. Still might if they don't sell. The REAL interesting question (to me) is, what am I going to do when the wife sees them sitting in the room? lol
Moderators dtel Posted July 6, 2006 Moderators Share Posted July 6, 2006 Wow so you really did it, cant wait to hear what you think. Well you can show her she is listed under other goodies in your tag line. that may help .
DrWho
You are insane... the wife won't let the khorns be in the front of the room so you throw in big 'ole jubilees instead? lol
customsteve01
Congrats, thats awsome. Caroline was even impressed on the way the one in Hope sounded. Just tell your wife that your Khorns are tired and they are yawning...[] Steve
Deang
Is this the same wife that forced you into using your Klipschorns as rear channels?
jwc
That is a nice setup. I am a big MAC fan as well. My wife actually thinks the jubilee bass looks cool.....I think it looks like a bat flyin at me. The big top horn is a loser with the wife. So this makes me think...get the smaller horn and run 3 way? Then some would say I need to get the khorns and be done with it. The Jub Bass had a slight boom in my opinion but a good boom. This is why I am anxious to hear your opinion when you get them hooked up in your home...you can give us an opinion of the Khorn bass vs the jub. jc

Coytee
I might add that I'm not the first one to put an order in, I'm the second (as best I know). So, you can call me Robin... Batman's will be made at same time though. Probalby delivered on same truck since we're so close.

This is why I am anxious to hear your opinion when you get them hooked up in your home...you can give us an opinion of the Khorn bass vs the jub. I too enjoyed the slight "boom", but I think it was more room associated than the actual speaker itself. As far as the HF section...the reason it is so big is to maintain pattern control all the way down to 500Hz? I forget the actual numbers. When you go to the smaller horn it becomes more omnidirectional and thus much harder to implement a good crossover and will become very room dependant (but you like tweaking so that's probably a good thing). The point being that a 3-way wouldn't help the situation. If aesthetics are a limiting factor then it seems the smaller horn is a justified compromise. I'm actually looking into building a smaller wooden horn for the Jubilee (similar in look to the pretty version with PWK). Just waiting on some funding and then it's straight to the cabinet maker. It's more of a personal project and challenge, but I'm sure I could be persuaded into sharing... []
