Put the phono preamp money into a good MM cartridge. Writing checks to pay bills and getting real mad. Public utilities wants a 14% increase....the City has a shortfall and wants to increase property taxes....same with the County idiots. They want to raise income taxes...laying of thousands of workers...we just took a sales tax hike, another 1-2% income tax hike in the next year, $2 per bottle liquor tax increase and tobacco has increased about 25%. I lost my job 5 months ago..nothing to be had...even at a substantial pay cut. Have 2 friends as teachers getting RIF notices because the state is not paying, and my wife is afraid of losing her job with the county because the health department payroll is grand funded. Didn't California do away with property taxes some years back....proposition 56 or something like that? no, we still have property taxes here. before i lost my house in the divorce, i was paying $500 a month just to cover the property taxes. I think Prop 13, years ago, froze them until the house was resold, then the new owner has tax based on the new purchase price. i think it's 1 percent of the house's value. If anyone is interested the answer is yes the new show on FX, Justified...kicks ***! It is best enjoyed with an ice cold beer. It made me want to go play with my new Kimber .45...which I did. Still trying to find an AV reciever that can work double duty for HT and music. Course I could just switch over and run tubes. Getting ever more jelous on Winchester's stup every time I stop in.... Then the local ABC board got caught at a drunken party with a 14,000 dollar bar/resturant tab for 18 people. the TV stations got hold of it and did the s--t hit the fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son (named Patrick) enjoyed his potatos and corned beef...did not like the cabbage though. I spent the bulk of the day working on the basement...I fired up my new planer/jointer for the first time...that is one heck of sweet tool. I am refurbishing the old hardwood I pulled out of my upstairs to make my basement ledge and bar top if there is enough. Serious wine drinker here- ALways hunting the perfect 8.00 bottle. If we ever meet up I will turn you on to some monsters that I paid dirt for. Hope your back is better. Bring on the pain killers- sooner the better- 10 days is too long Id rather- You cant get there for there- HT is VERY forgiving.A bargain system sounds great with the guns blazing and the helicopters flying. You have a very nice HT setup. 2 channel is a whole new ballgame- get with me before wasting any money- we wil work on your issue. I have some stuff here that can be repaired to sound- Buy nothing without cheking with me first. TH- hang in there buddy- thoughts and prayers- let us know what is happening- we want to know. Got a $201/month payraise retroactive back to last May 9th, so I got some back pay coming. Will come in handy to pay my school bus ticket; but, i'm sure I'll have enough to buy a few rounds. Even better, I'm due another $100/month raise this coming May. So, i think I'll have some cornwalls or LaScalas by the end of the summer! Hope everyone is well, and that you're feeling better Fini. I met with the surgeon today--physical therapy on shoulder showing very minimal results. He talked me into a cortosone shot before letting him operate. I will get it next wednesday (has to be approved by the insurance company first). So maybe by the end of next week, I will be able to get dressed without being in pain. Have been working on my Knob creek the last few nights but it was St. Pats day so went out with the boys for a few drinks. Cute girl at the bar convinced me to drink a few Irish car bombs with her(only in the spirit of the holiday, of course). Looking back I think I'll stick to the good stuff.haha. Had an afternoon off for a change and went with a few buds to the river to wet a line. That was a good decision.... What a day! Anyway closing up the bar tonight with a bottled water(due to the bar tab and a 9am class). Cheers to all... and if there's any of that cuban rum left I'll have a taste!
