Daddy Dee
Kind of a tough question. Have to think about what's in the rack and what's in the closet.
LarryC
I have 35 or 36, didn't realize it was that many until I counted them up just now. OTL's = 11 each (6 OP each), preamp has 12 (4 line, 6 phono, 2 in the power supply), and the tuner has 1 or 2.
fini
Do we count the TV?
maxg
Do we count the TV? Not if its plasma. I guess we dont include our spares stocks either. Right now I have only 2 in the preamp but I have (had) loads of spares for previous amps. I actually just gave someone 4 el34's and 4 6550's that I had. Not really sure what I have left anymore - will have to check out the cupboard I keep these things in.
pauln
I mean just the tubes that are glowing when you listen. TVs and bongs don't count...[8-)]

Moderators Travis In Austin Posted September 18, 2007 Moderators Share Posted September 18, 2007 Two VRD's @ 5 each is 10 A BBX, going from memory at the office, Rectifier tube, a 6DJ8, a line stage, two in the phono stage is 5. So a total of 15, at least that is what I am going to vote in the poll. Travis
rsp1068
Voted 20 in use daily, forgot about the 12 that are used occasionally. And they do cut down on those cold January heating bills.
cjgeraci
Twenty-four. But, I have solid state backups when I want to reduce that number on ninety degree (plus) days. Carl.
funkyhambone
main listening system has 30. i haven't noticed much heat unless i am holding my hands over the tubes. one might attribute the lack of heat to the plants that i water regularly hanging right above my gear and in the big pots that sit on my khorns. jcmusic
My main 2 channel system uses 18 tubes, and my vintage system uses about 23. Jay
CaptnBob
Marantz 10b, 7, a pair of 9-IIs, a Hadley 601, Mc-275, Mc-240, Mc-225, Scott 330-D, Ampex 351, Magnavox "Continental." There used to be more, but I've cut back...
paully
I already have 10 with my Bottlehead preamp and Stereo 70. The Bottlehead 300B Paramount amp I have coming uses expensive tubes. I didn't want more variables, added expense, and I didn't feel like I wanted to deal with more tube rolling so I steared away from a tube dac and tubed phono preamp. I just didn't want to deal with the search for the right tube and all the worry about the sound quality variables inherent in tubes beyond my amp and preamp.
