Daddy Dee
http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3429.asp $499 by Denon I know that sounds like alot, but it is 1.5 meters!
Invidiosulus
hehehe, That is amazing. I'm not impressed though. For that price I'd expect the wires to be hand soldered to the teeth in the connector. Once again, I'm thinking I'm in the wrong business. I've made enough standard cat-5 patch cables at work over the years, I should have enough practice to make some of those pricey ones. [] I do use some AR "twisted pair" RCA cables for my turntable though. they were cheap open box items at best buy and seem alright.
JohnA
Yea. I've got CAT5 speaker cables.
JJkizak
I use cat 5 cables at $6.00 each for 6 ft length for my networks and also 50 footers with my Avelink. Will this be another "coat hanger" thread? JJK
Invidiosulus
Yea. I've got CAT5 speaker cables.I was thinking of you when I saw the thread title. How many pieces is it that you used in each cable? I remember them being massive.

Guest srobak
Directional, anti-vibration, ethernet cable. Wow. Now I have seen it all. I have lost a LOT of respect for Denon. Side by side, you would not get any noticable difference between that cable and using paperclips. Digital signalling - it either works or it doesn't. Jay481985
and I bet you cat 5e or cat 6 is better shielded than those
Marvel
and I bet you cat 5e or cat 6 is better shielded than those Neither CAT 5e nor CAT 6 have shielding. The cabling consists of 4 twisted pairs, although only 2 pairs are used. A transmit pair and a receive pair. You CAN get it shielded, but the cost is pretty high. Invidiosulus
Maybe I can offload some of that Cat3 I have out in the barn on some unsuspecting fool for his audio gear.

I got a 100 ft run of cat5e shielded for not much. I forgot the cost but it was made by someone I knew and watched it. I saw the metal lined shielding so I am pretty sure it is shielded
Marvel
Of course 100ft runs won't cost much. We're used to buying multiple 1000ft boxes. But the spec is UN shielded. That's why it uses twisted pair.

Me Loves Khorns
But it brings out the nuances in the music. Now I am worried that I have, like, a bunch of nuances all squished up in the back of my Jubs, that have never been allowed to escape. Kinda like earwax? Guest srobak
I don't seem to recall Denon ever jumping on the snake oil bandwagon... is this a new trick for them?
jacksonbart
I use a Denon link cable that came packaged with in my Denon Universal player's box to connect to my Denon receiver. That one is much more pretty for sure.
