  1. Afternoon everyone............ Just finished installing my outdoor audio system on the deck. All worked out without a hitch, very neat and trim and the new receiver fits perfectly in the Vermont Castings lower cabinet. I have some photos on the iPad which I will share. The sound from the TIC speakers (their flagship model) is clean and clear, and because they are about 8 feet up, the sound carries very well throughout the yard. They can be turned 180 degrees to the right and left with a gentle twist. I don't have them locked down that tight, so they can be moved on the fly... I cranked it up and WOW , you can hear it echoing off the trees!, and this was when I took a walk out in front of the house !! I have the AC running down under the grill, the AUX cable for the iPad under the left wing counter tray, speaker wires come up through the deck behind the grill and go under the back... For now, the Sherwood is sitting on milk crate, so plenty of air circulating around... Ok, TONIGHT, is a silent film with the big pipe organ we tuned this week. Well known organist coming in from Boston, featured movie will be 'Robin Hood' ..... Later we all go out to the wine bar which is actually in a Tunnel, and for which it is named (The Tunnel Bar) for some fine vino AND eats... More tomorrow.......... Enjoy the rest of your day... ............Gary PS. Just went to the dentist for a cleaning.........after a nice report, my tech calls in the dentist to have a second look, next thing "You have a little something on this tooth, NOT a cavity..." Well, this is the second time for this and he drilled for what ever reason and of course, the resin fillings ain't cheap... So, he wants to do more!!! I am going to cancel the appointment and see if I can get a second opinion from another dentist! Sometimes I think they make stuff up, especially when the teeth are NOT bothering me and there are NO cavities or gum issues!.....

  2. Yea back in business, last night I started getting a popup saying I had a computer virus, it was spyware, ran a full scan which took hours and nothing, so downloaded a free spybot and it seems to have caught it, we will see. Hate to hear about BB King, I only seen him once by accident. Back in the 70's I was out at a bar on Tchoupitoulas st called Rosie's, they made an announcement "if you want to see the concert downstairs pay $10 at the door by the stairs and go down". I didn't even know there was anything going on so I figured why not, paid and went down stairs to a room about 40' wide and 60' long ? There was a stage on one end and it was filled with tables, so since I was one of the first in there I went and sat at a big round table that was touching the stage it was so close. Others came in and a man asked me if anyone else was sitting at that table, I said no have a seat not knowing who it was. After talking a while it turned out to Allen Toussaint, while talking he ask if I had ever seen BB King before and I said no but one day I would like to, he looked at me funny and laughed saying BB is playing here in a few minutes. I was shocked I had no idea, he thought it was really funny, I was just very surprised and shocked. During the show every time I turned and looked at Allen he would look back and laugh, probably thinking this dumb kid didn't even know who he came to see. It turned out to be a great show I will never forget, BB King put his stool right in front of our table and would talk to Allan off and on throughout the show. I just sat there in shock 8' from BB King and 2' from Allan Toussaint, I must have looked like a deer in the headlights. It was amazing and the only time I have ever seen BB King play, the best $10 I ever spent in my life.

  3. I made a spreadsheet with a few calculations that help me understand efficiency, how watts relate to actual db gain, and how distance affects loudness. You will find attached below, a compressed (zip) file containing this Excel spreadsheet.

  9. ? I have no idea, I have some 'friends" listed but don't know how they got there or how any of this works, but I am pretty sure there not like real friends, they don't come over and drink your beer or ask you to help them move or other inconvenient things. It's more important to be nice to people whenever posting, unlike Twisted does, dang there goes another friend adding me to the poop list.

Eldon i see met "The Man" funny growing up in Socal i went to many backyard band wannabees, one band one of my friends dragged me to quite a few times was great white, and it's NOT the band everyone knows of as that name these days. No, the original band that called themselfs that was Van Halen, trust me when i say when they started out, even being stoned, eddie sounded like chit. My other famous person was Ozzy. early 70s, im a helper for a carpenter doing woodbutcher work downtown LA, day is over, woodbutcher takes me to the Hyatt bar across the street, some longhair at the bar, plastered, it was Ozzy first day of being informed his wife wanted a divorice. and NO, i did not know who he was, bartender told me.

  15. Iv always had my standard of "Liking" someone 10 times, if i do not get one back, have a nice day. Now when i start getting them back, so do they, kind of a one for one, but i do not expect every one to find every post i make ande do that, no it's more like "Your on my list" of a like for a like. But you have to realize there may be others like me out there, I don't have a phone and never joined Facebook or other things like it so I know nothing about likes, friends or anything you can do on these things. I still don't know how the friends thing works here on the forum. It was 6 months after the forum changed before I tried the "like" button, also couldn't figure why the little red box in the top right corner had a number by it and it would change, come to find out it was people liking what I posted so I started clicking it to make it un highlighted. Ok I'm not crazy about changes So sorry anyone out there that waited for a reply (if needed) for the friends thing or whatever else I might have missed, I'm not ignoring you, no really I'm not.

  16. Hell, that is no way to live. I bet you have a lot of miles on the car, lol. You learn to get it when available, we really don't drink much, only at parties or around other people except for a rare occasion we just feel like a daiquiri or bloody mary, It's not my first choice anyway, I don't do well with some rules/laws, it's a dry county, so I built a bar in the front garden.

Eldon, Don't make me come over there and drink all of your Wild Turkey Honey!!! You have been warned! Roger Ha to late, a neighbor came over a couple of days ago and we were talking and I asked him if he had ever tried it, so not having tried it we finished off the last couple of shots left in the bottle, I am out now. Problem is we live in a dry county, we have to drive 30 min and cross a state line to get more. That's not a warning anyway, it's a challenge.

  20. Been through the same in the last year, I hate going to the dentist. I didn't crack a tooth I broke off two older crowns, after what they call a bone density test he said I could not get implants I had to get a partial plate, which is like having a bunch of gum stuck to the roof of your mouth whenever you wear it. I was so nervous when he went to remove what was left of the old crowns he said my blood pressure was to high for him to do anything. He asked me why the BP was so high and I told him because of you, your a dentist I hate dentist, he laughed and said this will fix it just breath this for a while, well he was right, after a while I didn't care what was happening. It ended up not hurting, I think, so he must be a good dentist, I know he is very good at picking assistants, they were all easy to look at.

  21. Hey guys...starting to work on 2nd cup... Was unable to post Friday....cuz I had to be at my dentist office by 8:00 am. Friday afternoon my wife pulled a crown off her tooth (not a amp). So she got an appointment 1st thing. She also told them I was having some issues that I have been putting off, so they got me in to. It was a quick fix for her to put the crown back on but she needs another crown and some other work. this will be done in a few weeks. Now for me, I cracked a tooth a few months back....was not bothering me but I know we had to do something. So we ended up putting a crown on that one. I also lost one of my crowns awhile ago and kept putting it off, now I can't find it. So he might have to make another if I can't locate it. Now my dentist is really a cool guy....He invites me over his house to practice Karate with him every month....he has a bunch of Karate people come over. He is a Back Belt is a style of Kenpo Karate. So my dentist....my friend...hurts me in three ways... 1st he sticks needles in my mouth and drills on my teeth..... 2nd he digs deep into my pocket for the "1st" 3rd he beats me up in all kinds of ways..... Shouldn't I get some kind of discount?????....NOT... lol lol a good day to all.. MKP:-)

  22. LOL! That's funny! "Not loud enough? GET A BIGGER AMP!" I have written, numerous times, that amplifiers should be rated in DB Watts. Zero DB Watts= 1 Watt, 10 DB Watts=10 Watts, 20 DB Watts=100 Watts, 30 DB Watts=1,000 watts. I must add......................"Not loud enough? Get more EFFICIENT speakers. If that won't do it, you then get a bigger amp." If that won't do it, get your ears cleaned or tested!

  25. Honestly, I don't know what the artist/producer/engineer wanted the music to sound like. And since ALL sources are recorded differently AND the amps/preamps/processors we run them through have circuits which probably has an affect on the sound, I use my EQ to adjust the music to my tastes. I'm not trying to flatten anything. I'm trying to achieve the curve that sounds most pleasant to ME. Of course I am changing the source to suit my desires. It also means I am accounting for equipment differences and room acoustics. It's all about personal preference and no single method is the correct method. Someone who uses sound panels is doing the same thing just using a different process. For example Led Zeppelin used recording techniques that I despise and I almost can't listen to them without some sort of adjustment. BUT they are legendary! Worked for them, doesn't work for me.

  44. I could be entirely wrong. I think Goodell is just too egotistical to admit he or anyone associated with his organization is wrong. Not to mention, he would have to reverse the findings of the million dollar investigation. On the other hand, Kraft does have a lot of influence on his buddy, Goodell. Will definitely be interesting.
