  1. I just stopped at an Estate Sale. Biggest pile of junk I have ever seen. Do any of you ever find bargains at those? Nearby business deal.

  2. A day to get through and then a weekend of web site work. I'm upgrading Audiokarma this weekend. Hopefully there are no big issues. I would hate to spend a couple days working to only restore the site from backup. Wish me luck.

  6. Finishing up in there is a foreign concept to me at this time. Well at least you are making progress, I've going on two years and the basement still isn't done.Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

  7. Do you run that all on your own, I know I have seen you there quite a bit. Good luck on the upgrade. I built the site in 2002 and maintain the server side software. I am an admin but I do not own the site. It belongs to my buddy David. Also, I do not moderate the forums. There are volunteers that handle that duty.

  8. Friday. Very good news indeed! Tiger I envy your boss - I think the train across the country is an experience I need to add to my bucket list, what a (relatively) stress free and comfortable way to see the country.

  9. YES, TGIF good morning to you all................ :emotion-44: To of us on the road today, working in a dark, DANK and stinky church basement, filled with cobwebs and moisture to install some fully restored 'gang' switches. These are all built with soft RED leather, rubber cloth and hide glue. Each switch turns on up to 73 contacts at once when you pull out a stop on the organ console... Lets hope it goes well, as there are 27 of these !! Later, return home for a shower and some music listening after dinner... Enjoy your time at the beach Steve....... OH, for you all who live in SoCal. My boss and company owner is currently enroute to YOUR state for the annual 'American Institute of Organbuilders' convention now going on all next week in SF. !! He loves the train, and so he has taken that mode from MA. to CA. !! ......more later... .........Gary

  12. Duder -- your point of reference is off...compare today with three or more years ago and you’ll notice much progress. Now, aren’t you proud of how much you’ve gotten done? Kick back and have a few beers -- you deserve it. Steve

  13. Hey Mark--was thinking of you earlier today. Left Irvine at 2:15, hit the 405 and it’s nearly gridlock. Creeping along in traffic and said aloud, “I hate living here.” Then i thought, i need to tell Mark to keep giving me a kick in the backside every now & then until I move. Too many people here these days. I just ate; but, read you were waiting for pizza…now i’m craving pizza.

  29. Yes, it's my cat--Holly. She can catch anything. Yesterday she brought home two chipmunks--alive. I caught one and relesed it back into the yard. The other was in the house all night till she found it under the dryer which is by the backdoor. We blocked off the area--locked Holly in the bathroom, opened the backdoor and the chipmunk made her escape. I'm getting tired of chasing wild animals through the house In her list is Birds Chipmunks Mice Moles Rabbits Snakes--one copperhead and 3 garter Whew !!!

  32. Mornin' all. Looks like some rain on the way, but pretty tame compared to you East coasters. Getting ready to pack some stuff and load better half and Baxter in the SUV and head south to Taos for a few days. Will check in when I can. We love northern NM. Friendly folks, good chow and great scenery. Supposed to have an arts festival going on this weekend. Hang in there guys and check back in a bit. Happy Friday everyone and cheers. Chuck.

  34. Today was the first day of the season where I had to wear a jacket to work this am, I am depressed. Keeping one eye on Hurricane Joaquin, hopefully it spins out into the ocean. our visit from Sandy is still a little too fresh in my memory. Gale force rain & winds forecast for the area this weekend, will have to tie down, strap to or move into the basement anything capable of taking flight. I had just paid to have 3 white pines cut down along with 1 old oak tree last week. Not sure they would have made it through a category 3 storm, better safe than sorry.

  35. The wife and i would have NO problem with that, however there would be a "Delivery" fee of $500, and a fuel surcharge of $1000 and of course trip Lodging/Pubs/Food/fireworks/winerys/Moonshine and a stop by Tims warehouse in St Louis =$1000, so let's just round up it up @$5K delivered......

  36. Morning Gang Well everything is "Wet" around these parts. Funny they are calling this second day of "Mist", Rain and 70. Friday the skeeters will be lovin the breeding @85. Im thinkin Cosco run, cookies/coffee/polish dog and lets just get that Duggans wile we are out. For those that may not know of the decision the wife and i made yesterday, the "Spare Pair" of Mcm 4ways, are up for sale @$2K and will be listed in Garage sale section as soon as i feel like it. Wife agrees with me as far as, if we have no where to run them, pass them on.

  37. yes...these are the original floors that were built in 1931......not sure what kind of shape they are in until we get the carpet out.....but plan is to sand and then use satin poly as you did....as long as they are in decent shape. Majority of the Plumbing was redone about 10 years ago....as was the roof. HVAC is about 15 years old (Carrier 2ton unit) but was just serviced last year and given a clean bill of health. It's built on a cinder block crawl space foundation that's in good shape. Electrical needs some work. Will most likely install a new panel and update the outlets. The actual wiring was redone in the 90's and is in decent shape. Overall the house has solid "bones"......but bathroom needs to be gutted.....old cast iron tub leaks and has rotted the floor....so will be ripping everything out and replacing flooring (hope that the joists are OK). Kitchen...we will sand and repaint the original Oak cabinets and replace the countertops (may try my hand at concrete tops) as well as all the appliances. We have a gas GE Profile 5 burner dual oven stove that we will install that's been in storage for a few years....we are both excited to be going back to gas. Should be a fun process....and everyone is excited to help out with the projects. My current "lawn boy" (our 13yr old) is really excited about getting a riding mower (about 3 of the 6.5 acres are cleared and need mowing).

  41. just recently started to include a teaspoon of Cacao nibs ground up along with a tablespoon of Cocoa powder into my morning coffee. Tastes like medicine but it sure works and I get my caffeine hit for the whole day, I expect that the nibs will make for an improvement in health as they are the most powerful antioxidant known. Listening to Pink Floyd's newest recording Endless River on the latest version (just two days old, same as I sent to RMAF)of my latest interconnect design they show much improved bass weight and quality over any previous versions. You guys simply would not believe the bass I get from my modified H3 up on 22" four post stands. These have to be experienced to be appreciated. Come for a visit I will make you a cup of my cold brew coffee/mud and you can listen to your favorite CD's. Best regards Moray James.

  42. It's not a pretty picture. Could be worse, could get pic's of Carl shaving away in the bathroom. After thinking about it the remodel pic's are about the only pic's of him in his bathroom I want to see. It's going to be nice when it's done and you are saving alot doing it yourself.

  46. The drill doesn't change, move the outdoor furniture into the basement, tie the bbq to the fence, move all the deck boxes inside, all hanging plants get taken down and placed along the north fence line. Utility boxes that hold the garbage cans get tied with paracord to the nearest trees. Frozen bottles of water are already in the chest freezer and basement fridge. Empty Propane tanks will be filled, cars gas upped with one of them if need be, moved to the local air national guard parking lot for safety. Flashlights checked, lighters ready, woodpile secured. With any luck this baby spins out into the Atlantic. Best of luck to those in the NC & Virginia region as you guys look to be taking the brunt of this one. Stay safe.

  48. Well we got back last night, went well, lake house is 90% done. A little more trim and some light fixtures, the new furniture is there and looks good. I started on the log handrails. when we go back in a couple of weeks I will add some old barn wood to the side of the steps and up the connecting wall. Carl, the Cabo is very good, so good it was gone the first night. Well a lot has gone on here, anniversaries, new houses, a long term bathroom remodel and BSM getting his pic with another celebrity plus hurricanes and I know I am forgetting a lot. It's good to be back home and here.

  49. Happy October everyone! 23 degrees at 6am and more importantly for us here - it's pfd day in Alaska! No we're not honoring personal flotation, it's the day every Alaskan (children incl) receives a check from the state's oil permanent fund dividend (pfd). This year it's a record so everyone gets a check for $2,070. I'll drink a coffee to that! Before any animosity develops over that, I'd like to remind you that it's 23 and will likely be that or lower in the mornings until late April and it's pretty expensive to live here too. :-) Still a fun day. Nice way to get the boys college funds fired up! Have a great Thursday!
