  1. You're smart not to go higher. Morning all. Looks like a wet weekend here. guess I'll work in the bathroom . I plan on getting the tile done all the way up to the break then concentrate on getting the cabinets done so the granite guys can finish up. Seems like this job will never end. Im more or less doing it to level it out. I will be putting 30×9.5x15. I dont go off roading so i dont feel the need to have a jacked up Jeep.Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

  5. Piece of cake, linear actuators are great, and now most have auto turn off at both ends of travel, and you can buy them in any size/voltage/mounting you want, shop the Bay. Linear actuators are great. I use one to lower and raise my projector for my home theater. I need it to drop the projector 24" to clear a huge 72" ceiling fan. Works like a champ. Here is a picture of the parts I used; actuator, pvc to channel the cables, power supply and projector mount with custom CNC machined adaptor. I built an A frame out of 2x4 lumber in the attic.

  6. Morning gang, sounds like some are having troubles out there and others are doing well, working on cup number two. I had yesterday and today off, oh wait I have Monday off as well. I was in the process of replacing the radiator on the Jeep, but then decided to add a 2" lift kit. Anyways I will be finishing that up today, Will I have to take the wife and kids to work and school, so I can have the car to run around and get parts needed to finish this project in the garage. Maybe I will take some pics later for you folks, take care.

  7. How's life treating you Norm? Like it caught me sleeping with it's wife! Morning Gents......off to breakfast with my chubby, hard of hearing, breakfast buds. Reliving our glory days for an hour. Off to the NC mountains in the morning. Jake has a sitter but keep it quiet I haven't told him LF and I gave him a bath yesterday. 120 pounds of clean dog Cheers Ladies and Gents

  8. I really REALLY like the DTS-10. You can feel the bass. I drive it with a Behringer EP4000. Here is a picture of my old system that shows you the size of the sub (dual 15" tapped horn). The Marting Logan Prodigy were replaced with Klipsch Jubilee.

  10. Happy Friday... I had such a nice exhilarating motorcycle ride yesterday I thought I might do it again today! My material for a job was delayed till next Tuesday, so I'm not making anybody mad. I saw where tropical storm Patricia is making its way closer to the west side of Mexico. The Weather Channel says it's the most powerful storm they have ever recorded, could create some problems. Have a great day….80 here today!!!

  12. I run a Danley Sound Labs DTS-10. It physically sits in the next room and fires through an opening in the wall. The mount is tied into the ceiling joists, so as long as I don't shake the ceiling, I should be OK. It has been up for a couple years now without issue and I have done some serious cranking during movies with good LFE.

  13. Very cool Luther. What subwoofer are you running? You'd think it would shake the projector hanging down like that.

  16. So, what you're saying is that you're a go-getter, take her to work then go-getter? I also like the Jeep part…" I was in the process of replacing a radiator on the Jeep, but then decided to add a 2" lift kit" Awesome decision!

  17. Going from memory only (oh Boy) the spuds use 10's and the larger tapped horn uses 12's. Maybe a version of a Lab 12?
    5 points
  18. I don't believe that's correct. There are two different ones, the ones dtel and i built which are the spuds which are a bit smaller, then there are the dts-10s which are bigger.Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

  19. You are correct. It uses two 15" subs in a tapped horn configuration. I bought mine as a kit and assembled it myself. It came in raw Baltic birch. I veneered mine with macassar ebony.

  22. Someone is listening.... Maron has been taken off the propofal, is out from the medical coma, and is slowly being weened off the respirator. One they pull the trach, he will be able to talk in a few days. He is alert and the elevator is going to the top floor, he recognizes everyone, and he is slowly getting feisty again. apparently, he likes being turned more by blonde nurses. He will need another quad bypass, but that will be down the road, after he goes through rehab and regains needed strength and weight. For an old man, he is quite resilient. His next six months are going to be spent in hospital, rehab, drs appts, and hospital again.

  27. I know how that feels, someone was delivering firewood this morning the wife woke me up saying he's on his way, so I was quickly drinking coffee to try to wake up. I hate to leave the guy unload a cord of wood by himself but it's over now, I love the smell of a stack of Oak. The scientist quote is funny and true.

  29. I don't believe that's correct. My bad, it uses two 12" subs. I stand corrected. http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/products/subwoofers/specialty-subs/dts10/

  30. I'm very familiar with the sub. I believe that's the same sub dtel uses (clone version). It's a dual driver tapped horn correct?

  31. That's a great sub. I'll bet it sounds nice. I've always wanted a projector but it's not practical in the room we have to work with.

  32. Klipsch Heritage speakers get modified, not because they need it, but because their design, in the case of the Klipschorn, Belle and La Scala in particular, makes the parts visible and invites tweaking. They're not mysterious boxes or monkey coffins, they're interesting machines, like classic cars with open-sided hoods that reveal the engines. With most speakers, what you bought is what you got, but with Heritage speakers, there are even factory update kits, so you can upgrade your older speakers to the latest specifications. One of my Heresy IIs is now a Heresy III, for a low price. All speakers are built with costs in mind, except of course for money's-no-object ones that few people can afford. What makes Heritage speakers sound so good is the synergy of the parts, rather than having extremely expensive parts that would not add up to better sound anyway. Accordingly, they can be upgraded/hot-rodded economically, in ways that would not be practical for retail sales. This has led to a community that has collectively acquired a pool of knowledge that is seen with few, if any, other speaker brands. The factory cooperation in this benefits both the customers and the company, which is how we have speakers like the JubScala, which started with a suggestion from a customer, which was then followed up by the top Klipsch engineer. Are your open baffle speakers perfect? Is there no way they could be improved? Have you considered making the baffles a different size or shape, for just one example? When you look at them, it's easy to see that open baffle speakers are just as tweakable as Klipsch Heritage speakers. I hope this post answers your question. Your comments were not out of place on a thread asking about attitudes about speaker types, but you can see how some people might see them as something more than you intended.

  34. IMO, anything even the least bit negative, or that could be perceived as critical, that is a response to a Garage Sale thread should be handled privately. Garage Sale postings that are unrealistically high priced or exaggerated in any other way should be allowed to die on their own lack of merit. IMO, a Garage Sale thread is not the place to express sarcasm or to be otherwise critical. If you aren't interested in the item as described at the price posted, then ignore it. Sellers have a right to ask whatever they like. Prospective buyers are free to offer whatever they feel it's worth, including nothing. Common civility suggests that Garage Sale posters not be publicly criticized. Unfortunately, "common civility" appears to be in short supply.

I could always build another for the opposite corner which was kind of the plan. The only thing that stopped me is I would have to get another amp which cost probably more than the spud I would think. All this and we don't really watch movies much at all, but with the new Tv this may change.

  38. Who's to say that we have not been contacted already? Not to go all MIB here, but aliens could be here walking amongst us and we'd never know it. I wonder sometimes about how technology aided our ancient ancestors. Where did the Mayans go? Were ancient rulers 100% human? We Humans might be hybrids from several galactic species. If so, then I'd be terrified of an alien visit in much the same way that I fear an un-announced visit from my mother-in-law now.

  41. Did the same thing last year but in Aug,(not as colorful) try to go check out the waterfall close to the end of the Skyway it's easy to get to and pretty big. I can't remember the name but there is a sign it's on the Tellico side of the parkway. We spent one Saturday just parked on the Dragon watching cars and bikes pass buy, our daughter and husband rode there bikes a few times on the tail. I've ridden that area quite a bit, but I haven't scratched the surface of all the great scenery. I'm thinking about retiring around there. I wouldn't blame you at all, it's a great looking area. We have been there a lot but like you there is much more we haven't seen, my favorite time of the year is fall with the colors. Since you will be in the area Fontana dam is nice and a very curvy road to get there. https://www.tva.gov/Energy/Our-Power-System/Hydroelectric/Fontana-Reservoir I have not been to the Fontana Dam area….it looks very nice. It's not just the great roads and fantastic scenery that I like, it's the friendly people also. I can feel the stress leaving my body when I'm down there.
