  1. WTF? Not your post Weber, but why is it in my post???? Please Klipsch gods explain how to make this stop happening. Anyway.... Well its almost Thanksgiving. Everyone have a safe and fun Holiday. I'm off to the LA airport this evening to pick up my niece. She will be arriving about 6 pm from Peru. Then its off to pick up a rental car( a Suburban??) and she'll follow me back home. Hopefully this will take less than 6 hours but I'm not holding my breath. There'll be eight of us at my house on Thanksgiving, I'm so looking forward to it. I'll be barbequeing a 22 pound turkey and we'll have most of the other fixin's. What's not to enjoy and be Thankful for? Food, family, friends and libations. Oh yea and Football..This is America C'MON!

  4. Yeah...usually buy from Sonic Electronix...but they didn't have it in stock at the time and only had a week before she went back to college. They earn my business about 95% of the time....always had great experience with them. Love they usually include all the installation hardware with purchase. Libations during install....but of course...that's a given

  5. Paid aprox $3bones from "Sonic Electronix" VX7020 My (RangeRover) unit from China turned out to be a POS, during a PayPal refund senerio, i shopped. Drimmel will make this critter fit, that and a couple of libations during install.

  6. Hey gang ...back again. 'Puter now has a clean bill of health from the Geeks, even though they had to clean out like 6 items of malware from it. Glad those guys are around for non-tech folks like me. Getting ready for annual Thanksgiving mob. Picked up fresh turkey and turkey breast from Whole Paycheck yesterday and fixin' to smoke it a couple of hours (after brining) with pecan wood. (It then gets transferred to the oven at which point it is no longer my problem). Whole Paycheck is the expensive way to go, but it's once a year and eliminates all previously expressed concerns about gluten (who the hell puts wheat in a turkey?), preservatives, ad nauseum. Good to be back.

  7. I've never seen my drivers moving like the speakers in the video nor do I want to. Sure, they produce more bass and spl but, fidelity goes down. Now, I do see my subwoofer drivers move like that at extreme spl. For the trained person having the speaker moving like this is safe. Increased cone movement also leads to increase distortion but, it may not be notice at high spl. The more the cone moves, there will be breakup at the periphery of the cone. Look at distortion plots of two and three way speakers full range and then compare the distortion plot when a subwoofer is added to the mix and the speaker are not full range. It gets much better with the addition of a subwoofer.

  8. Good for you, you both deserve to take a break with everything this past year, now remember you only real job this week is to keep the wife/Boss happy, this should be easy. Enjoy the time off........

  9. I think that I have every flavor that they make. None of it is cheap, then there's shipping to here. If you like sipping vodka just to check out the flavors, then it's good stuff. I have tried several top-shelf offerings from here and none have beat the Alaska Vodkas. I'm waiting to get more, hopefully it will be here soon. * Disclaimer: Although I have it here, I haven't tried the Smoked Salmon flavor yet.

  11. Reminds me of a joke One Sunday a church full of people at a service was shocked to see the devil himself appear in the front, everyone got up and ran out except for one old man. The devil looked at the man and asked why didn't you run like everyone else ? The old man stood up and said I am not scared of you one bit, the devil looked surprised and asked why ? The old man smiled and said I married your sister 40 years ago, you can't compete with her !

  16. really? Grey Goose falls short to the Alaskan vodka, or just within the flavored ones? I don't drink much of anything any more these days. but back in the day - my 2nd adolescence in my 30's - I really liked Stoli, Grey Goose, Belvedere was good, and probably some others I don't remember. (don't know why that would be ) Absolut - not so much. I'd take it if you bought it for me, but normally wouldn't choose it on my own. but the Alaskan beats those? wow. impressive

  17. Smoked Salmon flavored, now that's completely different, no where else but Alaska would try that. Not sure about the Salmon but I would think some of the other flavors are good.

  20. We have a fireplace insert in our house. It's got to be really cold for us to use it as one load of wood will run a good 12 hours and it cranks out the BTU's.

  21. I heat my house using only wood in the stove. I love bon fires and camp fires, but the nerd in me can't help to think about the energy lost.

  23. Happy Thanksgiving week everyone! Hope everyone is able to enjoy time with the people who matter in your lives this week! (BESIDES the wonderful folk on the forum!) Had a chance to listen to a friends Definitive Technology Speakers this weekend - not bad - especially for movies. While the side firing sub thing didn't work that well for me, I could see where someone would get used to that. For a Thanksgiving spirit, for those who enjoy whiskey, I would recommend a (new to me) bottle of Sheep Dip. Quite smooth! Also enjoying the Sam Adams Winter Lager for the beer crowd! SO much to be thankful for this year! Specifically family and HEALTH! For those facing the health battle, prayers with you right now. Have a great week! Happy Thanksgiving!

  24. Not really we barely can keep a eye on ourselves, only because were expected to behave, it hard sometimes. And there is no one else watching that's for sure.

  25. Dang gremlins... Trump Vodka! Once invested in a stock DKAM. May be still around but they signed a deal for this designer vodka awhile back. I got out of the stock because they were signing unknowns like this Trump dude. Suppose to have been great vodka though... See ya'll tomorrow.

  26. You're welcome I have the same problem when quoting. I don't know why, I figured it was a glitch in the system. when it happens , I hold the backspace until it goes away. it might do it a few times, the it quits.

  29. Just learned of them after being done with the "Bay" shopping for a more LOCAL vendor. I must have spent 3hours on their site trying to decide. Install Hardware, iv got a boatload already, but i did notice they include it with most deals.

  30. Good deal. If it was a factory unit you might need a security code to get it up and running.

  31. Jensen seemed to have the best one at this time, in 04 they did not offer a GPS unit for a 3500 Dodge.

  32. As long as you're not pumping way too much power into them or, more seriously, clipping at the amp, they should be fine. I think clipping would be the fastest way to destroy your speakers....but I have no first hand experience :-p

  33. In both texture and flavor, IMO. I have a knight cap mixt drink about every night. It's been months since I've sipped a flavored vodka. If challenged, I would sit confidently that i would not be let down by sending them to battle. I'm not claiming that Klipsch Speakers or Alaska Vodka can't be beat. I will say that one will have to lighten the wallet to do so.

  34. They really are, IMHO. I threw money at Godiva, Grey Goose and such to AB them, but they fall short.

  36. The woodpecker in the video is a Pileated Woodpecker, which are very reclusive and somewhat rare. i would recommend putting up a couple of suet feeders away from your house, and see if that makes them stop attacking your house.

  37. Huge grain of salt with my recommendation - I am NOT an aficionado! I have yet to try AK Outlaw. Good question - I saw the AK Outlaw and need to try it! Since the maker, Alaska Distillery is less than 3 miles from my home, I guess I owe it to them to at least give them a try! My first foray into bourbon/whiskey was with Makers Mark about 8 years ago. So I'm a noob in this arena! Enjoyed the sheep dip though, fwiw, and figured I'd pass it along.

  43. Travel safely Mike. I've read where there may be a record amount of traffic this year at Thanksgiving. On one hand I'm glad we're not traveling but on the other hand, we'll have a house full. I love company and seeing family but normally in moderation. The wife however is giddy at the prospect so what are you going to do????

  44. I do also, wood stove and the rest of your statement fits what I have thought. As much as I like fires outside I sit thinking I could heat the house for weeks with that much heat in the stove. Now don't panic, I completely understand the fear and shock that would come with the fact you and I think the same on some things, But you can find refuge in knowing you are normal and just have a few odd ideas which just happen to align with my abnormal ones...............I guess
