  1. Don't transients live under bridges and overpasses? I can understand wanting to entertain transients with your music, but does it require 200 watts? I'm sure that all the transients in my neighborhood could hear my system if I put my KHorns on the back porch powered by my Cary 300b amps. Just sayin'

  6. working hard to get the new listening room ready, half space and not so high like the old one , the first tries came up with surprising good audible results, I didn´t expected that . Still a lot of work to do in the new listening room as well as the other rooms. Just the SS & SACD are in operation, all other gear isn´t connected yet, may this coming weekend , first pic to show how I proceed in this project. Suprised that the RF7 Evo´s playing so fantastique even in a smaller listening room. Pic isn´t that good 😐

  8. Why do you need big power on khorns when 5 watts will play louder (with excellent dynamics) than you can even stand to be in the same room? Not to mention the better sound quality a low power tube amp will get you over a SS behemoth.

  10. Well,, now that you ask, yes, they dethroned my Cornwall 2's. For the record, I'm really not a huge fanboy of Klipsch but I do love SET amps and high efficiency speakers. I got the AL5's about 7-8 months ago and I'm very happy with them, no complaints at all, a great value for my 25 by 30' room. I wanted focal grand utopia's (yea right) but with my beer budget was compelled to get either La Scalas or K horns. FWIW, I went in with full intention of getting a pair of rel subs later on which I did but,, without the rel's I was fully content. The bass was (is) plenty for the jazz I listen to.Sure the sub's give a bit more but stand alone AL5's in my room floored me with their range in the low's. I play guitar and well know when the low E bass note at 41 hz and lower notes than that, you both hear and feel them and question who wrote the specs for these speakers. I admit I have them in close proximity to corners, still I was shocked. I have another system in another room and like other speakers but the Klipsch ain't goin nowhere.

  12. Got the contract for the new apartment since monday , working hard to move from the house to the new life , glad that the troubble with the wife is under control now, because I´m living in another town . Lot´s of handcraftet and creative works are challing me , it makes fun and I´m in a quiet good mood since I left the house. Picking up my belongings step by step , will take a while till the new apartment is ready. I´m sleeping there allready , bought an airbed with electrical air filling system

  15. I started a thread in tubes last week about the impending arrival. Well it landed yesterday and it deserves a new thread. I was a little apprehensive about 8 watts. I've never owned anything so measly. Well I couldn't have been more wrong about that. This thing has balls for days along with the delicacy that the 300B is known for. I only got to listen for about an hour last night, but wow, very impressive. I'm sure much of this performance can be attributed to Aric's design and his overbuilt power supply. Glad to be in the DHT camp now. I will post more about how it compares to the PP EL84 amp I have been using after I've had more listening time. In the pic below, the PS is on the rack behind the amp, tethered with two umbilical cables.

  24. Agreed, with speakers this sensitive, I could probably use Cat 6 network wiring for speaker cabling. If I opened up my amplifier, I bet the output wiring is not bigger than 22 awg. The original cabling in these speakers was 12ga Monster cabling. Not expensive, but you could see the green corrosion, so I replaced the wiring with some ofc cabling I bought off of Amazon. I could have spent big bucks for high end Audioquest cables but I doubt I'd hear a difference.

  30. We come together to grieve when it's a famous person because their fame connects us, and it's a grief we can share in that commonality. It should not, and does not, take away the value of anyone who has battled similar demons.
