  4. Checked out a local 60’s cover band at the brewery/theater over in Mars Hill Friday evening. The first thing I said when I walked in was “not enough PA”. As soon as the band started playing it was confirmed, the vocals and guitar were getting buried in most of the mix. Yesterday we went caroling downtown with folks from our parish and the rain held off until we were done. That was nice.

  7. That sounds delicious @MicroMara ! And yeah cold pizza & cold fried chicken were two of the best foods for breakfast that I discovered as a teenager! That was until I got hooked on coffee!! We've had almost warm night times the past two nights. Mid 40s. It's going to get nippy again tonight and colder for the next couple days and that'll be perfect if the stars align and I can empty all my stuff into the house Tuesday.

  11. Mine are done, too. Put them up 2 years ago. Never took them down. Just strings of lights in the trees. They are on every night ... all night. The cold wet passed. A couple days of sub 60 highs. Mid 70's this coming week. I've been splitting wood .. again, still. poco poco. Work a little. Rest a lot. The knots don't make it any easier. The wood is starting to check. That helps a little.

  12. Just git er done then go back to drawing nekkie stick wimmen instead of budgeting for knowns and unknowns. Ya got coffee, blankies, electric and a roof over your head. Chill and mull it over before ya just jump and stress out even more. Then ya can start with the work and play beat the clock w/the move. You'll survive. House looks great @Tarheel. You hold the ladder for the LF to hang the lights? Wishin ya both a Merry Christmas now but you'll be back in prior to I'm sure. How's that hot tub I sent ya last year workin for ya? 😂

  13. Seems they got the 4 best teams? What if we could of had a Florida State vs Alabama game this Saturday to settle things? What would the final score be on that one? 45-0 Alabama maybe? By game time New Years Day the line on Michigan vs Alabama will be even money I suspect. That's gonna be a hell of a game right there.

  14. it's a beautiful Diminished composition, specially given the era in which it was written. that video includes the very rare 3rd floor verse that was deleted because it was considered to controversial at the time. First floor dungeon: Assorted simple tortures - Molten lead, chopping blocks and hot boiling oil Second floor dungeon: Jewelry department - Leg chains, ankle chains, wrist chains, neck chains, thumbscrews and nooses of the very finest rope. Third floor dungeon: Household appliances - Spike beds, electric chairs, gas chambers, roasting pots and scalping devices Basement dungeon: Everybody out! I do believe that the gentleman in the black hat is none other than the great Woodie Strode

  16. At the risk of sounding sentimental, I would like to say something about this. I have read some of your posts, @henry4841. About tube amps etc. I also read between the lines of your passion for creating and constructing tube amps that you must be a really fine chap. Even if it wasn't a personal encounter. You are, in my view, a very reflective person who has found meaning and significance in life. Of course we all have our weaknesses, one is a bit narcissistic, the second suspicious, the third anxious, the fourth just having a bad day and the fifth living in grief over a loss. and so it goes on. I am absolutely not free of such weaknesses or fates. What I would like to say is that we are all here, in the Klipsch Forum, because it is a place we all go to make our lives a little more joyful and enriching. We share a passion for music and music reproduction based on Klipsch loudspeakers. That's a nice positive common denominator. I didn't mean to be too harsh with you, sorry. I am also referring to myself. We should not burden the beauty of this forum with the things we want to balance in this place. I'm not good at that sort of thing to discribe, what I actually mean is, we all here are a community or a part of it.

  26. I've always had a HUGE soft pot for Thurl Ravenscroft... to me, he is the pinnacle of the narrated voice over...

  27. He's got a decent voice also, the cadence and the seriousness of the sound he produces. It would make it worthy to be in a Vincent Price narrated spooky story!

  28. That is really nice that y'all still go caroling. I can recall that from my childhood vividly @Invidiosulus! Whatchu talkin' bout DJ?? Guess you couldn't see my weekend bag that holds my clothes topped with three different blankets, one of which is that thick cotton beach towel that you barely see the top of in the passenger seat. 1. On those couple of cold nights (low 20s then teens) I woke and had to run the heat a little bit with you-know-who's price of gasoline the way it is now that's not financially efficient! And a little hint for you. It's the current sitting a hole, not the former that did that! 2. When I got my painting tools that's in one of those yellow topped containers. I also got canned goods, my coffee pot, and my coffee grinder. Got the celebratory bourbon in that box you see behind my bedding and another box for the regular stuff. Then I just filled the rest of the vehicle with what I could make fit... 3. I can only fit in the driver's seat now and I can't move it unless I go forward some to be able to lower the back. 4. I want to use my vehicle like I used to, and normal people do. Sketching out budget plans for knowns and unknowns now, going to get busy again tomorrow!

  32. Nice lil look at the big picture tonight from a friend. Well, for the first time in the 10 years of the College Football Playoff system, the selection committee has a real problem on their hands -- and faces a huge controversy Sunday no matter which way it goes when the final rankings are released at noon on ESPN. The top three teams will almost certainly be: 1 Michigan (13-0). 2. Washington (13-0). 3. Texas (12-1). When it comes to No. 4, now that’s where it gets sticky. Will the committee take the most-deserving team in 13-0 Florida State, which won the ACC championship with a sloppy 16-6 win over Louisville? The Seminoles are without superstar quarterback Jordan Travis, who injured his knee three weeks ago, and are clearly not one of the “four best” teams in the country right now, especially on offense. But bear in mind, no Power-Five conference champion which finished undefeated has ever been left out of the playoff. Or will the committee decide to take SEC champ Alabama (12-1), which upset No. 1 Georgia 27-24? Remember, no SEC champ has ever been excluded from the playoff, either, and the Crimson Tide surely could be considered one of the four best teams right now. Alabama’s only loss was in the third game of the season to Texas in Tuscaloosa. As the No. 1 seed, Michigan surely would rather see the struggling Seminoles’ offense which will play with a backup quarterback in a semifinal game -- rather than powerful Alabama and elusive quarterback Jalen Milroe. One more item: The Bulldogs' loss also likely will knock Ohio State out of the Orange Bowl, a slot which Georgia now would fill should it finish ranked above the Buckeyes as expected. No matter which way the committee goes at No 4 and 5, Georgia likely will be ranked No. 6 and Ohio State No. 7.

  33. Time to resurrect this thread and see if anyone wants to contribute. We all talk about comparing speakers, but lets document our experiences! I found this picture and remembered when I did this A/B comparison of a Forte vs. Forte II Speakers:Forte vs. Forte II Room:2 car garage Electronics: Emotiva pre, Crown K2, Dell computer with WAV files. Demo Songs: Jimmy Sax-No Man No Cry / Stevie Ray-Chitlins Con Carne / Pink Floyd-Time I know it was conducted in a less than ideal area, but for me, the original Forte's sounded just a little sweeter to my ears. Perhaps it's just because I refinished them and liked the darker color, but when I had my better half do the random A/B switching, I picked the Forte every time.

  36. This box is great. The CD sleeves all mimick the LP covers, some are even gate-folds like their LP brothers.
