The bigger problem with digital recording is the way the recordings can get messed up with all the manipulation that can be done.If you used an analogue mix desk and fed it into a digital recording device today, you will get a better recording. Even Ray Charles was using digital technology late is his career, when the were remastering his material. I had an article with an engineer who worked with him and he said R.C. was fine with it. No tape alignments, no oxide issues or speed problems. Vinyl is great for being able to see the pictures on the cover and to read the liner notes. I have a collection of vinyl and keep a turntable. Like any medium, there are good to great recordings, and those that go the other way, too. I've lots of great CDs. I just hope I'll be able to always have a CD player that works.

That is the reason I asked the brand. In the USA it is not common to stop at a hardware store and buy a Gum glue. Since Gum refers to a sap typically (Gum Arabic, Mastic, Dragon tears, Amber...) just not commonly found over here. As a violin maker, working with various types of varnish, these are common materials, most of what my adhesion is made up from, and I ?might? have a bottle of PVA here somewhere. The only Gum Glue I did find on Amazon US is 91% water and 9% Polyvinyl Alcohol, not Polyvinyl Acetate such as Tite Bond. There are many white glues out there, some PVA, some Casein based, and some of variations on the themes. From what I "could" find, the Studymate gum glue is most likely based on Mastic, and or Gum Arabic, the MSDS does (Will) not say. It works! and others say PVA does too. As long as it can be removed without damaging the vinyl, I say go for it! Heck maple syrup should work a little, just be sure to get it washed off well, I do not think the stylus would like the change in velocity. Dried Syrup would surely rip that stylus out in a heart beat. Silly putty!, Auto body clay, so many things that could be pressed into a groove and attach to the dust, lifting it out.. works for me! A nice wash will also do a lot to remove the dirt and grime, and of course that opens the barn door to the obvious chemicals and degrading the vinyl. With the advent of the more sensitive cartridge and stylus, we do want to clean and preserve our collection, preserve the stylus from hitting the potholes in the road, so it makes perfect sense to experiment with new ideas on how to clean, and follow that path of "Discovery" of what works the best for you. It is just as important to do a good preen after playing that album, good sleeves and proper storage. Just my thoughts here and a big thank you to @Full Range for the tips and advice here today. A bit of irony.... I attended that show when they brought it to Nashville ('94). It ALSO happened to be the answer to the question (when I first bought the Underground Jubilee's) "What will/should be the first thing I listen to" I didn't have these glasses then but had I, I'm sure they'd now be thinking "Gee, do these dudes EVER listen to ANYTHING else in life????" Glad they arrived unscathed.

Installed Ania on Planer 3 about a month ago. Skeptical at first. High frequencies where shrill. After 25 hours the highs have mellowed out. Bass is spectacular! It's a whole new listening experience!!

First pressing sounded dull with Ortofon 2m blue. Full, lively, and dynamic with new Rega Ania MC.

I agree with this comment - as long as the job can be done without damage then it’s OK Using gum glue for me was a decision made after experiencing issues with PVA glue not releasing its bond and I had to soak the record over night to remove the glue, and that took about 30 min for one side (lucky it was a test record)

Replaced around 65 record sleeves and covers with MoFi products. Labor intensive for sure.

I think Titebond is ok, but they make a lot of types. I know it's a PVA.

My next date for departure to the rehab was confirmed today from 28th. of feb. till 20th of march. As the weather here is still gray with lot´s of dark clouds but mild temps, there was time so spin some tunes today. I started with some Jazz Records Return to Forever " Mystery " followed by a very special live recording from 1965 incl. a wonderful booklet

Well ... about last week...

It happens very often if the oil filter is tightened too much, especially in cold weather like the single digit temps we’ve had. BUT, I have to admit that my assessment was wrong! I put a piece of cardboard under my Jeep last night and it was dry this morning. I checked the oil level, perfectly fine. I took a paper towel to the spot on the driveway and it had a dark red hue to it - transmission fluid! Ironically that’s actually a good thing! My wife’s Wrangler had a transmission fluid leak that we had fixed a little over a week ago. We got some snow a few days ago and after it melted it made the spot in the driveway look like a fresh leak. So, we’re still going to take my Jeep and I’ll bring a couple quarts of oil just to be on the safe side (which I think is a good idea on any road trip).

I had a Dual 1229 with a Shure V15 type 3 and replaced the needle with the Jico SAS. Sounded great within the first few albums. I loved that turntable setup but eventually bought a MOFI Fender turntable with better wiring and longer tonearm and it sounds cleaner than the 1229 ever did.

I can not comment on the Polk, however I listend to the RF-25's and 35's when I when looking for new speakers. I ended up with the 35's for several reasons. 1). The 25's had a mid bass rise that I did not care for. It added an unnatural bass sound to me. 2). The 35's sounded much more open than the 25's the sound stage became much larger with the 35's. 3). The 35's had a better sounding high end, smoother I would say. And for only $100 more how could I resist a higher quality speaker? HTH

I would like to second seperates over a receiver. I went with the Outlaw 950 Pre/Pro and a used Parasound 855A amp to drive my RF-35's. Sure their not in the same league as your 7's, but still sound nice to me. And they sound much nicer now with the seperates over the Pioneer receiver I replaced.
