On a rainy day it’s always good to hear some bossa nova / Latin jazz to brighten up the day Sergio Mendes / Cannonball Adderley With The Bossa Rio Sextet Of Brazil In the USA this album is known as – Cannonball's Bossa Nova3 points

What an interesting and great story the UJ have and it makes me smile to remember and have been one of the many who have supported them and been adventurous enough to step out of their comfort zone through the years to own them. I’m happy @Flevoman has joined the adventure. 🙂 Thanks PWK and to Roy for the many opportunities you gave us to join, learn and share in the adventure..!!! miketn3 points

Very nice story, the whole UJ thing was different the way it all started and became popular, although not surprised at all.2 points

Looks like you haven't ruled out the preamp being the issue yet...not sure that's it, but swapping the NC 200 back in might be worth a try (as opposed to pulling the pre3 out of the loop). I do find preamps make a big difference on sound in my systems...1 point

If you mean just replacing the factory jumpers with some wire that costs a dollar or two why not? It might not make a difference, but it's not much $$$ to try. There was a discussion about that here recently..... Back to REL subwoofers you can count me as a fan and I recommend them every chance I get (and I like to use speaker level inputs with powered subs).1 point

Not much... the last bloodwork I had (in July) was good enough that the urologist told me I don't need to come back unless I feel like I NEED to see them. The radiation oncologist sent a letter that has a Jan. 2025 appointment date. So they've lengthened how often we meet. So I'm feeling pretty good.1 point

I do not know a lot but what I do know is the higher you go up on the food chain of speakers the easier it is to find and ID bad recordings The Jubes are especially very good at helping with this. One needs to definitely be able to EQ or adjust tone control while enjoying the Jubes during a listening session. And yes THANK YOU PWK and Roy.1 point

REL probably decided they might as well get some of the money people spend for "upgraded" wire, the shortest one costs as much as a Tzero. With the way speaker inputs work the wire is just carrying a small signal like an RCA cable. A lot of money for some spades and maybe? a small improvement.1 point

So buddies ...time to say goodby for a while , a couple of weeks or maybe some month, I don´t know yet, depends on my recovery after the tuesdays first surgery. We may meet up in the YouTube spinning thread . My last vinyl spinning today were Carolyne Mas " Mas Hysteria " followed by Mothers Finest Debut than one of the best albums from Lenny Kravitz " Let love rule " because of this man´s birthday to day @AndreG. Joe Jackson " Big World " and right this minute one of my " island records " WAR Live recorded 1972 at the Chicago´s High Chaparral1 point

Very nice I see that the woofers have been angle cut and recessed although there is a lot of controversy over this I think going to speaker like that. I imagine it would enhance the overall performance looks nice. Good job.1 point

Hello again, believe it or not I think I can follow somewhat of what you are saying, but let me first interject this in order to reproduce what you heard before the lushness the fullness compression of the sound I would think you would want to keep in mind or conditions must remain the same Not so much to turntable the most important part would be the cartridge. What were you using for a preamp for the phone section? Was it two or solid state? I am not a turntable affection auto as I can take three different turntables with the identical cartridge and cables using identical, phone preamp, and most people were only guessing at what turntable is being used we learnt years ago, 90% of what you’re hearing is coming from your cartridge, unless you really got a bad bearing belt or some other turntable problem on a little but what I’m saying is if you can duplicate or you must duplicate the exact same equipment that you were using that gave you this particular sound was it Audio compression or was it a DBX Type of compression and expansion, but to me the most important part would be your equipment in order to replicate that everything must be identical. Wish I could help you further if I had a little more technical information then I’m sure you’ll figure it out.1 point

I sold the UJ with a heavy heart. But we will be moving to a new smaller apartment in the next two years, all the children are grown up and two of the three will still be with us for another year or two until they have finished their studies. Because it is incredibly expensive to rent your own apartment as a student here in Cologne. But they have their own life here (and Diana and me as well😀) because it is really plenty of space for everyone. After that, I won't be able to set up the UJ anymore. I've had so much fun with it since 2008...which is a frighteningly long time, OMG, time flies and I will never forget the answer from Roy @Chief bonehead to my request that I wrote in 2008. "I will see how to get you a pair of Jubilees". I have kept the mail from Roy. It was not just speakers, it was an absolute event to acquire the UJ. @mikebse2a3 helped me so much back then with all his knowledge and all his unconditional warmth, just as he is now helping Melvin @Flevoman with his AL5 and the UJ (ok, I do a little bit too). Mike from Tennessee had suggested to Roy in 2008 that I should also be included in the UJ group, and so it was that I was in Hope AR in September 2009. The acquisition of the UJ was far more than the purchase of loudspeakers. I found a very friendly company in Hope, even though some people initially thought... what does this guy from Germany want here. In the end it was very, very warm. I am still in a very fruitful exchange with Mike from Tennessee and the other Mike from Chicago @DrWho here in the forum, has become a friend for life, who has been with us a few times, who came to Germany especially for my 60th birthday five years ago and whose wedding in Portugal two years ago my wife and I were invited to. That is so much more and very emotional what the UJ means to me. Once again, I am delighted that Melvin has taken over. @babadono At the beginning of June, I bought a beautifully preserved Khorn from 1973 in Italy. It's my baby at the moment and I'm restoring it little by little. I'll open a thread about it when I've reached the first stage. Please do not reply or ask about it here. This is Melvin's thread. I thought it was better to give the UJ to good hands now than to wait until the end. It makes me happy to know that Melvin is a successor who appreciates it.1 point

Welcome to the UJ club! The good news is you can adjust them, but thats also the bad news! Because is hard to stop tweaking.1 point

@Flevoman Wow cool story. Enjoy. As you get them super dialed in to your room you will love them I'm sure. Tame any first reflections and imaging will improve. Now what is @KT88 moving on to?1 point

I wouldn't remember either but it's on the top of the page when you click profile, unless account was changed and restarted. I don't even remember, either way it's no big deal. There was only one subject/person who ever got me fired up and it was not you or Mark D. Yes really glad to see that, Hope you are good Trey.1 point

I've been wasting time here for over 20 years LOL! Not so much lately, just the occasional pop in. My first Pilgrimage was the 2004 gathering in Indy. Here are a few photos from the hotel meeting room: My brother and I (me on the right) Dean adjusting Trey's vertical Cornwalls Trey and Audio Flynn Forum members just chilling and listening to the music - the way the Pilgrimages used to be More listening at 2 am1 point

I've been communicating with him. This is a functional system. I have these in a 36 x 36 room and jaws drop when I play them. Midbass thickness like no other .....that slams. jc1 point

They were $385 each, but I swear I saw an MSRP of over $500 somewhere so maybe that was street price.1 point

Regrettably, these were a lot more expensive than Khorns were when they came out, not adjusted for inflation.1 point

Actually the way it holds it's shape is a big plus, you can get really artsy with your wire routing. Imagine your wire bent to the shape of a Playboy rabbit or a smiley face on the way to your speakers!1 point

SOLD. Impressions are good, Silent, you can really dial up the gain with no hiss. I used it with both tube and SS power amps with great results. I have a lot of 2 channel gear but need large chunks of cash to finish the HT in my new basement. Thanks, -Steve1 point

I have lost track of my hard copy of this schematic ( Probably buried in the debris field in my hobby room ). I can't find it using the search function on the forum. I am thinking of recapping my Xovers and while I could wrestle my Khorns out of their corners,I would greatly appreciate one of you folks posting the diagram. Thanks in advance.1 point
