  1. Landing in NewYork for a big UN speach, after getting all of Pope’s luggage loaded into the limo, (and he doesn’t travel light), the driver notices the pope is still standing on the curb. “Excuse me, Your Holiness,” says the driver, “Would you please take your seat so we can leave?” “Well, to tell you the truth,” says the pope, “they never let me drive at the Vatican when I was a cardinal, and I’d really like to drive today.” “I’m sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that. I’d lose my job! What if something should happen?” protests the driver, wishing he’d never gone to work that morning. “Who’s going to tell?” says the pope with a smile. Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, because after exiting the airport, the pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 100mph “Please slow down, Your Holiness!” pleads the worried driver, but the pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens. “Oh, dear God, I’m going to lose my license – and my job!” moans the driver. The pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio. “I need to talk to the chief,” he says to the dispatcher. The Chief gets on the radio, and the cop tells him that he’s stopped a limo going 100mph. “So bust him,” says the chief. “I don’t think we want to do that, he’s really important,” said the cop. The chief exclaimed, “All the more reason!” “No, I mean really important,” said the cop with a bit of persistence. The chief then asked, ‘Who do you have there, the mayor?” “Bigger.” Chief: “A senator?” Cop: “Bigger.” Chief: “The President?” Cop: “Bigger.” “Well,” said the chief, “Who is it?” Cop: “I think it’s God!” The chief is even more puzzled and curious, “What makes you think it’s God?” Cop: ‘Well Chief, His chauffeur is the Pope!’
  2. I like your dithering generator on the right coupled to the reflector on the left! Must totally eliminate any standing waves!
  3. If you are willing to make a road trip, there have been a few very nice ones for under CDN $1500 in Canada in the Ottawa and Toronto areas. at the current exchange rate that is a bargain and would cover an overnight stay. In Canada www.kijiji.ca is the most popular classified site. hifishark does cover canadian sites too http://www.hifishark.com/
  4. why not just surf your favorite on line classified for a simple vintage receiver? Use the phono input and output via the Tape recording loops. Most have them.
  5. The ringing runs strong in my family. My mother had it. My brother has it. Somehow I have always known.
  6. May be easier just to get a guy on the side to please the wife ya know.... I have waited 25 years to listen to my beloved classic rock at respectable levels at home. My HT room is finally taking shape. How long can you still wait?
  7. what about the KLF line that came just after, My understanding is that dealers did no like the Epic line because of the low mounted mid/tweeter, you had to sit down and be at ear level. KLF20s are not that hard to find... but there is a CF3 near albany NY... $450 I believe on ebay
  8. I know a girl that achieves oral perfection. And she is a hell of a lot cheaper too!
  9. Led Zep not guilty but of note.... seems like a 400 year old song is even closer to Staiurway to Heaven! Just mind boggling how the ancient composers foresaw the future! http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2016/06/20/stairway-to-heaven-public-domain/
  10. why not calculate with a baffle size of 24 inches to see what this guy is hearing? Too fun though. what these esoteric "simplify ad infinitum" idiots try and think work!
  11. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-haut-parleurs/ville-de-montreal/haut-parleurs-klipsch-surround-prix-discutable-150w-chacun/1176131027 I went to see these, picked up his KLF C7 center and KSW15 sub. The KLF30s are in great shape but need motorboard regluing. He was not aware of the problem. The KSP-6 are also in mint condition. He will probably post the KLF 30s soon but he is asking $750 Canadian for them.. Damn too late for me I got my KLF20s in winter and the wife will put me in the doghouse if I get the 30s... He also has Denon 5800 He wants like $600 canadian for it.
  12. why not a pair of surrounds? Tweet-mid-Tweet aimed downward? Thats my plan.
  13. Glad I got some discussion going! So yes don't forget that the Canadian dollar is like 78US cents. and Toronto has lots of attractions.
  14. not mine but pretty oak rare http://www.kijiji.ca/v-speakers/markham-york-region/klipsch-klf-c7-center-channel-speaker/1169470847
  15. quite cool.... there is a good write up of the Phoenix Gold Cyclone... http://www.caraudio.com/forums/subwoofers/42090-phoenix-gold-cyclone-most-unique-subwoofer-dissection-pics.html but see it work on vid and googling it gives lots of pics. https://www.google.ca/search?q=phoenix+gold+cyclone+rotary+subwoofer&rlz=1C1GGGE_enCA361&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi6n-XIsufMAhUGsBQKHf68ABEQsAQIOQ even one for sale on ebay! http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Phoenix-Gold-Cyclone-Rotary-Subwoofer-System-Old-School-Very-Rare-Never-Used/322107763532?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140620075055%26meid%3D15932fb980c642d4bac50b18fffde3b4%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D181131940416
  16. the paper surround woofer may well be a descent quality replacement. I actually believe they last longer than rubber surrounds! Nobody has ever had to replace Cornwall surrounds! But there are several issues here, generic to all used sales and not particular to this sale or to Ed. 1: If the seller did not notice something as visually obvious as different woofers, on speakers without grills, then what else is he missing? One would have to take the speakers apart to see what else may be wrong with them. I am not going to drive 6 hours for this. If you are going to sell something, get all your information together, make sure it is accurate, then post it. 2: For vintage electronics and speakers, buyers look for original condition, No point in purchasing 20 year old speakers for that *vintage sound and look* when the original parts are no longer there. I came across a pair of KLF30s for US$1300 where all 4 woofers as well as tweet/mid diaphragms were replaced by Bob Crites parts. Really? These are no longer Klipsch speakers, but are now a DIY speaker in a Klipsch box! One can argue whether they sound better or not but that is not the point. If the speakers are mine, and the only options is aftermarket repair parts, then I can make that judgement, fully expecting a hit in resale value.
  17. Left and right have different Woofers! Someone repaired with accordion cloth surround replacement! I will pass, Sorry
  18. The fronts are good? Without grills, how did you manage to keep the front and drivers free of scuffs and scratches? How long have the grills been lost?
  19. I Drove 7 hours for my KLF20s.. but was also a business trip.. nice coincidence that they where near my client. Montreal Boston is a nice drive.. used to do it for work often enough.
  20. are these still available? Where in MA are you? Near Boston? That's only a 5-6 hr drive for me.
  21. "the studio's carefully dialed-in, super-calibrated monitor speakers" WTF does this mean? I never understood "studio monitors". Why would they be different from other high end/ high quality speakers? Perhaps they can trade off some engineering criteria because they don't have to reproduce very loud in a large room?
  22. Guys Gals what are you using for receiver to projector in-wall HDMI category 2 Cable? The standard seems to say under 10M. Blue Jeans has premium BJC Series-1 Belden Bonded-Pair HDMI Cable that they say is good for these runs but its like $120. http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/hdmi-cable.htm Monoprice has redmere active cable for $50 for similar lenghths. http://www.monoprice.com/Search/Index?keyword=luxe+series+hdmi what do you all use for these lengths? Active or Passive? I am concerned that if the active electronics fails, I have major in wall wiring access problems to fix or replace the cable. Thanks
  23. appliances are getting way to complicated.... we have LG washer dryer.. nice but in Canada LG wont even sell parts! you have to go thru a repair service!
