He was mostly all audio related when he posted in the early years. You know this entire forum was mostly about audio, way back when. Although I have less than 600 posts I've been here, on and off, since 2003. Bought my first Klipsch speakers, 1977 LaScallas, brand spankin' new from the factory. Thought this forum was a pretty cool spot - talkin' Klipsch, audio learning more about both. Couldn't post for a few years due to a password snafu and gave up for a while. Many, many names are no longer here for many reasons I'm sure. But how some of these posts are turned and twisted I can see why. Seems our "electronic social society" has emboldened many to be more than what they really are. I don't know about this forum anymore but I do know one thing - I enjoy my KHorns played through some glowing glass sitting back and reading the soap opera known as the Klipsch Community. Pull up your boots, wade through the mire and you might find a topic on Klipsch speakers. Just maybe ---
  2. that quote is a rip off on Ohio weather :)RogerAnd KC weather I might add. I would guess many other locals as well.70's here Sat, Sun, Moday; 40's today, 60's remainder of week. A very easy winter so far. Hopefully we sneak through March with no ice/wet, heavy snows and we are good to go. April's usually very nice with a few hiccups along the way. Then May with enough confidence in the weather to bike down to Hope.Man, that's a lot of pedaling! ;)Roger Big, strong legs. Just pace yourself.

  4. Ya' know these wood working videos showing those mad skills are beginning to wear on me. I can't cut a 2x4 straight.
  5. Wasn't sure of the design of new RF280f and in looking at the Klipsch site they are offering them for $479 ea. down from $599. Limited time offer - if you are leaning that direction I'd act quick and save yourself about $250.
  6. I just hung a Samsung plasma myself, 55 inch, great lifelike picture. Bought the mount from Costco - Kanto PDX650. This thing is massive, seems to weigh 35% of the TV itself. Wrinkle black finish, tilts, and pulls from wall about a foot to articulate L/R. It ain't cheap but I caught it on sale around Christmas.
  7. Make mine Propofol, please. Micheal Jackson was on to a little sumpin' sumpin' there (:
  8. OK - don't buy it! Looks like I'm too late --
  9. For you guys with First Watt power what preamps do you use, favor? SS active, passive like B1 or tube?
  10. I imagine the real founder, thus the reason this forum exists, would sum up this thread and many more that turn in this direction as -- And I must quote here - "Bullshit". That about covers these insightful 11 pages.
  11. This being a Klipsch speaker forum has anyone ever heard of a Klipschorn loudspeaker? Someting about a speaker you have to stick in a corner for best sound. Wierd! Or am I in the wrong place? Thanks so much - in advance of course.

    ALTECS!

The fellow who delivered my KHorns from St. Louis area was then heading to Okie City for a van full of Altecs. I think this is where he was heading, a year ago this month. He owned Klispch but was a die hard Altec guy. Owned some massive gear and a lot of it.
  13. Agreed - breath taken. How 'bout we rename the forum - "As the KHorn Turns". Such drama here - wonder if an online forum can qualify for an Emmey?
  14. Yep 73 here in KC. Windy as all get out but blowin' in that warm air from the south. Refreshing having a door and window or two open after being closed up for several weeks.
  15. I read that the Ruskies', Saudis, Venezuala, etc. are in talks on production levels remaining at current levels. Of course Russia is withering from current market prices and will side with any producer that will listen to their whimpering. Or they can begin another conflict which is a chippy way of raising prices. You've got to give it to our Saudi "allies" for watching our backs in the petroleum wars. Maybe we should return the favor when they beg, no demand, we protect the very oil field they hold over heads. What nice position to hold.
  16. I've heard that yes the FBI has the software to eventually access the encryption into an iPhone but the IOS software is such that after several tries, not sure the number, than all access will be impossible. So while the FBI runs its thousands of possibilities the IOS has already determined the high failure rate and locked the system. There is the issue they are trying to resolve, find solution or protect depending what side of the fence you stand.
  17. He he...imagine installing a vacuum tube computer in the house! I wonder if that is a single ended computer?
  18. Bumpity Bump I'd really like to move this to someone who can appreciate vinyl as I found on my return it wasn't my cup of tea. Since I've never sold a TT I wasn't sure how price it, looks to have been too high. No intent to gouge. This really is a nice rig in tremendous condition. How about shaving off $225 -- sell for $450 plus shipping.
  19. The build quality is ridiculous! Look how uniform the door seams are - true craftsmanship.
  20. Or pleasuring himself a bit too much. An arm can only take so much repetition, you know carpal tunnel. Them young chickees' will certainly relieve the that problem.
  21. Nice, good retirement job, owning your own ricshaw. What sound system will be installed? Rates?
  22. That looks like an early 4 tube version of the little Miniwatt integrated. The newest version uses 2x EL84 and 1x 12au7 for about 2-3 watts I believe. What Cindy said the Miniwatt also uses a switching power supply. Heard one with my Belles a few years back and they sound remarkably good for a tube amp you can hold in your hand.
  23. Depends on your definition of successful. If you mean by walking out to greet the patients family to tell them everything went well and you can visit in the recovery room - then no.
  24. Thanks Chris The EQ thing is way beyond me and any/all equipment required. I appreciated the graph but i have no way interpret it. I'm gonna give the 4 Ohm setting a try.
  25. So I have a pair of nicely designed amps with 4, 8, 16 Ohm speaker connections. I know I will probably be told to try all three for best results but with stock K33 woofs and K55 mids which rating should be followed. Xovers are ALK extreme slopes. I have followed this scenario with my 16ohm ZU's using the 16 taps and indeed they sound better. Technically what is the KHorn recommendation?
