for sure, separating the channels is a great idea for critical listening... but at lower levels of (for lack of a better word) financial commitment, I think the gains are marginal at best
I would concern myself with complexity as much as I would end product... sure, these things are complex when you first start out but after a while you will want the customization.
at what point are just going to invest in a 6 axis CNC machine?
beyond repeatability and prototyping MANY different designs, you'll be able to knock those out in 30 minutes on an ongoing basis.
then again... we can 3d print those now days.
