    Car Thread

I just sold my STi after 10 years of owning it. I can't say I miss the car. I also tune a lot of Subaru's. www.jaztuning.com Accompanied by a long slide, pretty much.

    Car Thread

With all the quarantine time, I've actually have been getting my track car back together. I am almost done, waiting on a few things, but soon I will put it on the dyno and tune it. Had to cover half the oil cooler on the street... First bath in probably a couple years. I cut up a perfectly good hood. Waiting on a replacement louver for the passenger side. Also waiting for another Recaro seat for the passenger side. This is just wastegate spring (7 PSI spring) which is about 5.5 PSI tapering to 4, with low timing. One of the things I am waiting to arrive are the pins, so I can finish wiring up my electronic boost controller into the AEM ECU. This video is also at 8k ft above sea level. I am only going to run 8-10 PSI as this car is already fun where it's at. Next is that I will need to upgrade the clutch and get the damage fixed from my last track mishap...
  3. It does look cool... But I was surprised to see it was 'just' a music server.
  4. Thanks! I am Jason, from the article. Zach has been on Street Outlaws, just not racing. We were both on Netflix's "Fastest Car" (season 2, episode 3).
  5. Didn't buy anything (actually, I probably have...), but we "got" our first 8 second pass at 170mph in a Ford Taurus this past weekend. I would type up the huge fight it was, but Motor1 covered it for us! https://www.motor1.com/news/404475/taurus-sho-eight-second-pass/ We lost the hood at 170mph, but it should make for a great 1320 Video feature, very soon. If you've been following the new C8 Corvette, this is the one that snapped an axle on the sticky track.
  6. I have the CT-120's and A-55-G's in my 78 La Scalas with a Crites A-4500's. I find them to be proper, especially with my receiver smoothing it all out (it actually added more upper end). I ended up getting the same drivers for my 82 Heresy's.
  7. I won't buy into the USB cable but. Have used way too many different types on the government dime and have never noticed anything special, aside from the 'power-only' cables.
  8. I sent a PM. Are these still available?
  9. Does that include shipping? If so, I am interested.
  10. There are plenty out there. I picked up a set of 1982 Heresy's with excellent drivers, replaced caps, and cabinet condition that is in great condition to be refinished... For $375 (asking price was $425, IIRC).
  11. Picked up a new toy to give to my daughter for Christmas. She loves riding my ATV with me, so it was time to get her something she could drive. I've already installed control arm skid plates, mirrors, and a tuner. Also got a new dog... He's a work in progress...
  12. Did I miss the location? If near me, I'll take them as I'd love to refinish and give to a friend. Edit: I see it now.
  13. I retire in 7 months... Can't wait! I also come from generations of military. I never thought I'd stay this long, but I've realized it's time to retire, for me. One of my favorite moments was attending my buddies BMT graduations a couple years ago.
  14. I know that car... I have a customer that does this pretty regularly in his driveway.
  15. What parts are you looking for? Willing to bet all the information you want is already on this forum.
  16. That sounds exactly like what I was planning. I'd love to see pics when you're back in town!
  17. These are noisy. There is a reason why SVS puts foam behind them on the top, port end of their subwoofer. They also put silicone on edges of the screen to keep it from vibrating. I had to do all this when I built a clone as it was really, really noisy.
  18. My dad refinished his La Scalas, probably 20 years ago. He bought them new in 1982 and they were fine, but the original finish he put on it was not what he wanted. IIRC, this is just some wipe-on Polyurethane. I am probably going to do the same to my 78 La Scalas.
  19. Well... It is for sale in the same city as Klipsch headquarters, no?
  20. I 'got' my name showing up on a preview for the Netflix series of Fastest Car. I was surfing Netflix last night and passed by the show, the car I tune was the cover preview.
  21. As a racer and car-guy in general, who does a bunch of ECU tuning on the side, I don't particularly care to drive a manual car anymore. I currently have two 6-speed cars, which are just toys, (STi & S2000) and I don't enjoy them the way I used to compared to a DCT. Even a traditional auto these days, is pretty good. After I sell my STi soon (whenever it goes up on www.bringatrailer.com), I'll still have my S2000, which is my track car. It's got a really good shifting feel, but since I put a turbo on it, I have been considering a sequential transmission... quick shifts and never drop boost. I'll probably never buy a manual transmission car again, and I used to be a die-hard manual transmission guy.
  22. I don't even answer my phone if I don't know the number. I've even hung up on future customers for my business because of it. No time for that...
