  1. I have heard nothing but good things about D-Sonic, Wyred for Sound, and the Nad mentioned above. Here is a link to a guy on AVS who is just about finished building an 11 channel ICE amp. Many are waiting for him to finish and get his impressions over there. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/2258594-11-channel-icepower-asx2btl-amp-build.html
  2. In movies, lots of dialog is done in studios, especially with cartoons, etc. Here is a clip from Transformers: That vid was great. Thanks for that. The voice of Optimus Prime was fantastic and I wondered who did it.
  3. that story can make one a tad angry at our people in power in those days.
  4. I would say a good pair of Epic CF3's are actually underpriced at $600. They could be version 1's as well.
  5. I am curious about the frequency response of the Belles with the upgraded parts in comparison to them stock. How deep does the bass go for instance? They are beautiful by the way.
  6. Check out this rather long thread over at AVS regarding peoples experience with a product called the Subdude. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-subwoofers-bass-transducers/644330-auralex-subdude-owners-thread.html
  7. Quite a few pages on this speakers attributes. How about a nice quality video recording of it in action.
  8. You could attach some L brackets to the wall just over the mantle or something similar to accommodate a speaker the size of the Academy or C-7, if so desired. I don't how it would affect a speaker over the long term if the fireplace is used often.
  9. The thing with most earthquakes at least here in Southern California, is the fact that a single event usually only lasts around 5 or 10 seconds, if that. Then it's over. I get more house shaking going on from the Marines at Camp Pendleton dropping bombs and blowing stuff up off in the distance.
  10. The first 3 numbers on the seriel #'s refer to the day of the year it was made, which is a bit hard to read but could be the 222nd day. The next 2 numbers are the year reversed, so it was made in 1995. Version 2 or 3.
  11. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-CF-4-Main-Stereo-Speakers-Sale-is-for-one-pair-/191789390443?hash=item2ca789da6b:g:wW0AAOSwFqJWokwj Anyone interested in a pair of CF4's?
  12. Oh I agree they are not totally useless. You can look at the speakers then imagine how good they will sound when you get them. Videos such as these are not for listening through computer speakers and they take on whole new dimension when listening through a good or decent pair of over ear headphone, not ear buds. Through headphones in this vid, you can hear the great quality of this speaker, how effortless it plays, how dynamic it is, what nice bass articulation it has, how good it is on vocals, when listening to the later Jazz number. How nice it sounds on piano music. It is also a really nice quality recording as far as youtube vids go. Obviously, it is only a small representation of the speaker, but it is a good one.
  13. Nice bike and story. Having grown up in Michigan myself, my family and I had gone to Mackinac Island many times. Still remember the homemade fudge, horse drawn carriages and people driving in electric cars over there.
  14. Love the look of your setup, The Epic, looking great with its blackened horn by the sub and quality Mac gear. Excellent! This is the first time hearing about getting the horn from the later version for the older one. But,coming from Roy, I may also do the same.
  15. Toccata und Fugue in D minor. J.S. Bach I thought it was the theme song to Rollerball
  16. Was perusing audio demos on youtube and found this one for those who like to give a listen to whats out there. Sounds great through my Sennheisers. I would assume fully horn loaded speakers.
  17. Weird, blast from the past, I still have about that same bike except mine was the hard rock, a couple steps down which came with the rigid fork. I upgraded to a fork that looks simiilar to yours. The other components look nearly identical. I got it as a Christmas gift from my parents 20 years ago. Nowadays I use it as a road bike, swapped back to the rigid fork and I have slick but fat tires on it. I can keep up with road bikes that aren't exactly killing it. I got that off of Craigslist a few years ago after my Rockhopper got stolen. It was supposed to be a stopgap until I had some real time to explore whats out there, but it has done the job and I have just kept it. I don't know how old it actually is. I would like to see pic with your fat tires, sounds interesting.
  18. This is my little 24 speed, StumpJumper.
  19. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EO0SEPK/ref=s9_simh_gw_g23_i1_r?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=12B3GNV19VGTKHWXHCFB&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2079475242&pf_rd_i=desktop I have the Topping amp in the above link. Its sits to the side of my A/V receiver with its own speaker wires for occasional play. it is a great little T-amp connected to another great piece of gear for a nice minimalist system, the Logitech Squeezebox Touch.
  20. Hey Paul, nice post on the Epics. It is cool to see the true efficiency of the line if accurate. I would love to see the scan of that.
  21. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marantz-SR-4000-Receiver-knob-and-button-set-/231803535989?hash=item35f8914275:g:9HcAAOSwJcZWcfFo To go along with those grills, how about a nice set of knobs and buttons to an old Marantz receiver, he is also selling, or you can buy the feet
  22. Take a look at the now discontinued but still excellent -Logitech Squeezebox Touch. It is a great streaming device that can be controlled easily with your iphone from the comfort of your chair. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Logitech-Squeezebox-Touch-Mint-with-Mint-Box-/231814299070?hash=item35f9357dbe:g:dVsAAOSwX~dWmEkq
  23. What device are you using to play music, are you streaming? I have also heard Chopin pieces distorting at times at low volume but only while streaming content off of Pandora and the like and found that quite odd. While other piano music even when played quite loudly, never does. It could be the recording itself, the poor quality of streaming or some other issue that has nothing to do with the quality of your speakers. One test you can preform is to listen to the recording on headphones and see if you still hear the distortion. If you hear it through the phones too, you will know it is not the speakers.
