  1. My toslink is for my video. Unfortunately I need a RCA digital output.
  2. I kind of miss loading up a changer. For house cleaning and parties and such. I have a Dennon changer from many years ago that needs a tech for skipping. I do not know anyone who works on CD players. Thanks for the comments on the rig. Quite a few years and changes in the making.
  3. I really like my CJ PV. I have heard some concerns about the PV8 in the past. All the rest are quite good I would infer. HH Scott LC21 or 130 would only be phono sections I like as well. Bass weight realism of instrument decay and soundstage are excellent.
  4. Pretty kind. I met him once. Woodworker and little else.
  5. I drove 3 hours each way in 2005 and paid $ 1500 for the Walnut pair. Would not have a problem paying $ 2000 for a pair close to home.
  6. The Forte will also magnify fatiguing sources and software. $400 is a good price. I would not sell my Chorus IIs for twice that.
  7. Before I got crazy into DACs I had a Dennon CD player with Burr Brown chips. Sounded decent for less than $500.
  8. I sent a PayPal a while back it was easier.
  9. JM being a retired nameplate so to speak does not get allot of noteriety. A very capable phono section.
  10. Does the Maverick need any specific drivers? I am using a WIN 10 laptop. MOJO by Chord seems to have some reliability problems I am reading about.
  11. My wife thinks I should spend a little more as to prevent the every other year upgrade bug. I have always read good things about Wadia I use a newer AMD A10 laptop with 8 gig of ram to listen to Spotify and am slowly ripping CDs to J River for NAS. I still fly quite a bit for another 7 years so I was looking for portability. With J River I am ripping in FLAC. Looking a t Chord Mojo. And making myself nuts doing research. LOL
  12. I was leaning in the direction of the Dragonfly Red but wanted to be open minded. I have not read up on Cambridge in a while. Keep the ideas coming! Schiit and Pico are interesting but not enough reviews to make a consensus. I heard the Meridian Explorer as part of a super high end Meridian system at AXPONA Chicago show 2 years ago but the whole system was probably $ 20,000 or more.
  13. I have a AQ Dragonfly 1.2 for about two years and was looking at what is out there for a slight improvement. Options: Meridian Explorer AQ Dragonfly Red Headamp Pico UPSAMPLING USB DAC schiit modi multibit Just for streaming music. I live in the middle of know where so I buy everything based upon reviews and recommendations. Please give me your opinion on the options or recomend another for less than $ 400. Thanks; Rick
  14. My Audio Research and Conrad Johnson pre amps have no tone controls. Maybe I played with tone controls on my H H Scott LK 48 15 years ago a bit.
  15. Not an unfair price tough to sell good equipment after Christmas and before tax returns come in. C and D version s with 7591 tubes are competing.
  16. Bud! Two pair of K Horns very cool. No tube amp hiding in the closet? The rippled figure in the front center panel is much prettier than my 1978s. Not that mine are ugly. Lol I would not take any low ball offers. I would start at 2500 and not take less than 2000.
  17. Sound track to "Last of the Mohicans". A dark soundtrack but good digital. CSN first album on vinyl. Stills bass.....Martin guitars and world call harmonies. Not to be a snob but my original pressing of Henry Mancini "Peter Gunn" is just nuts. 1959 two microphones two track with the orchestra on a well tuned soundstage.
  18. I think Klipsch confused customers by changing model numbers too frequently. KLF C 7 never came back as a center channel. Maybe it did and I missed it when my home downsize event retired my home theater. RB 5 and RB 7 are awesome when anchored to filled stands. I have RB 5 in my inventory. Although the RB 5 crossover needs a Deang upgrade to meet its full potential that I never addressed that mini monitor played all music well in analog bypass mode with my Sherwood Newcastle HT separates. I never owned them but every iteration of the RF 7 I have heard have been very musical. A run off of Chorus IIs against an RF7 would be interesting. Fun discussion!
  19. Transformers have a huge influence. I have not tried everything but I do like kt88 or 6L6 over el84 for bass weight.
  20. My Classic 1 is plenty for me. I use the anti skate per Soundsmith instruction and Soindstage the online dealer. I live in the country so no place to audition. The adjustment is easier with the Soundsmith Counter Intuitive. The unipivot is a bit odd but the realism and soundstage are with it. The only upgrade I am making is to the stand. My stand is s flat footed wood stand that sits on carpet with significant padding underneath. In s spring cleaning upgrade I am going to install threaded spikes and potentially add a slab of rustic walnut to the top shelf for more mass and farmhouse aesthetics's. The stand is slightly wobbly if I lean on it.
  21. As for phono section I have used Eico , Ampex and Scott. Scott phono section had the best soundstage and realism. 130 and LC 21 I have a romantic affinity for although my AR and CJ preamps are no slouches.
  22. I use either a Audio Research SP 14 or Conrad Johnson PV 12. The 208 is an alternate to the VRD when I build a master bedroom suite the 208 will go into a console. I have a Grinding and a Motorola from the 50s that are fine pieces of furniture.
