  1. We got some flurries early in the week, I think Wednesday or Thursday. Luckily they didn't stick so looks like its going to be a brown Thanksgiving here in Michigan.
  2. Well I already bought them, I have no semblance of buyer's remorse, its just that I want something to look forward to.[<)]
  3. Marshall is a great guy. He actually gave me the choice between three Heresy's that I was thinking of buying. It was between Buddy's, a pair that I was initially going to buy from Daddy Dee, or a set that he acquired last week. I ended up going with the last set (check my post in 2 channel) and Marshall really is a great guy I just hope that he gets some chance in the next couple days of driving to check this out.
  4. So I finally took the plunge after a month or so of trolling around on this board and bought a set of Heresy's from Groomslake (Marshall) They are a set of HBR H-1s with black grills, I'm incredibly excited to get them, I was going to buy a set of Dee's H-IIs but Marshall ended up acquiring these at the last minute so he's taking Dee's and I'm getting his (what a nice guy, haha) So I guess what do I have to look forward to? I'm currently running a couple year old Denon receiver and a matching Denon CD player along with a KSW10 sub (I know rather mid-fi setup) But I'm thinking I might give myself a nice Roth Audio MC4 for Christmas or sometime around there. Anyways back to my question I currently have a set of SF-1s that I bought in my sophomore year of high school, and blew most of money of at the time, so what do I have to look forward to? Just some thoughts on what people saw being the main difference in upgrading from the mid/low range stuff? Thanks all and have a great day.
  5. Thats what I was thinking as well when I saw them out of the corners and no sign of a false corner anything present. But then again I'm just a noobie, so who knows.[]
  6. Best of luck, I'm getting my first set of Heresy's shipped to me this week. Hopefully we can both have a pair by Friday.[H]
  7. There isn't anywhere specific that I know of that does downloads strictly in high quality. There is a trend among artists now though that are releasing their music over the internet and allows their customers the option to buy higher bit rate or lossless music. Some examples that I can think of in music that I recently bought was some of the Dave Matthews Live Trax. Sorry for not much help.
  8. I don't have answers, but this question is going to be asked anyways. How big is the room? Can it be assumed that because this is the HT section you tend to have most of your listening be for movies? Or do you use this setup for music as well. Just off the top of my head I'd say the SVS offerings wouldn't be too bad and they are nearly subsonic for a price that is near what you're looking at.
  9. I had to sell a ticket to U of M/ OSU because of a disgusting amount of work I have to get done this weekend.[:'(] On the plus side, at least I have the place to myself and lots of music to play.[H]
  10. I don't have any experience with it, but you would get a receiver that would have enough power to move the back walls of your room with the Klipschorns. The signal that you would be getting though would not be as "pure" as you would with a dedicated 2 channel receiver. This receiver has a lot of electronic gadgetry which the signal would pass through before it reaches your speakers and effectively your ears. That being said though it wouldn't necessarily sound bad, what are you using now? And is it for a home theater application, and lastly what other speakers are you using?
  11. Wait'll you see the images..... Totally shameless, A travesty... No,... an abomination...[] Do we get a hint? [:^)]
  12. Well I'm not really sure how you can power a system in a 5.1 config. with a receiver that is only four channel (typo by you??) But I would say go for the speakers now, there will be an amazing difference. You will likely experience alot more of the effects of movies (for instance more of an idea how close that bullet was to just killing the main character) and as a secondary bonus, you'll be able to turn it up alot more as the new speakers are likely more sensitive than your current ones. But going back to the beginning, if your receiver is infact 4.1 then you'll have to change that.
  13. Two posts above [] Mentions the "cylindrical subs." EDIT: I would check out the SVS line, they seem to be up your alley. Very high power, quality subs yet don't take up a lot of real estate in your HT. Also the Sunfire's are another choice to look at, I have no experience with them but in terms of size they would be great for you.
  14. You don't necessarily need to have an adapter, just pay attention while plugging it in and make sure that you center the connection around the space on the iPod. Its a good temporary solution.
  15. What's overkill? If you sufficient wattage running through the Chorus' you should invest in a good sub, whether it be something more musical if thats your tastes, or that plays lower for more effect while watching movies. And going to the point above, you don't necessarily need to go bigger for the sub as with big subs can sound boomy rather quickly. I would look more so at subs that have the ability to play lower than your mains, as thats what they're designed to do. I guess it's a blessing and a curse of having very versatile mains. [] EDIT: I looked it up and your sub, while a noisy little bugger plays to 32Hz, while the Chorus' play to 39Hz. FYI.
  16. I'm trying to remember if there was a Count Basie/ Frank Sinatra collaboration at some point, anyone know what its called?
  17. I'm not sure any of the cabinets were 100% food. Though Paul went through many different designs in his heyday he decided to get out of the organic food-based speaker business long before the organic movement became popular among middle to upper class housewives in the middle 2000s. []
  18. I downloaded "Slunky" last week. It is an amazing song, but I am a youngin' so I'll have to go with Dave Matthews "The Idea of You" I saw them in Boston at Fenway Park and this was the first time I heard it and immediately fell in love with it. It hasn't been released in a studio album yet, hopefully someday.
  19. Don't bother with the iPod running a volume in which you will be happy with. Anything that is running out of a line out will not have as much volume as you might desire.
  20. Cosign, but I was thinking about this the other day. Good question.
  21. Ugly, IMO not worth the eyesore. It looks like you're building a flux capacitor in your attic. lol.
  22. Grew up in Illinois, currently go to school in MI. I'm only new school cause I can't afford the good shiz. But reading through this site I'm amazed. Hate to say it but it almost seems baffling that something from sixty years ago can sounds as good/ if not better than something from now a days. Oh well guess I'm just young and dumb. Now on a seperate point. I need an amazing sounding reciever with the ability to run a sub out, any ideas???? :-)
