  1. Oh yeah? You guys judged car audio stuff too? I was doing that, as well, from about 1985 till I got out of the industry in 2009. Competing in and judging both in install and SQ. This was back in the Thunder on Wheels days, then NACA, CAN, IASCA, and USAC I was about out of it then. Good times.
  2. Yep....exactly. I fixed that last line.
  3. Ouch? Apparently your personal preferences aren't the same as his. I think they look darn good. Great job!
  4. I've been a member of the Polk Audio forum about as long as I have been here. Kind of miss my SDA's occasionally. Funny how that forum can talk about pretty much anything including DIY, tinkering, tweaking, etc., and it doesn't seem to ruffle as many feathers. Maybe it does...who knows. Older Polks aren't made anymore yet for years, Polk went so far as to come up with new tweeter replacements for SDA, Monitor series, etc., and also the mid-woofers for the longest, to keep those speakers going. They may still even do it now. But, for so many to get butt hurt over changing and altering things on their own speakers that they bought new, or used, with their OWN money, that are 20 to 50 years old, that there are minimal replacement parts for, if any, is tiring. Hell, you can't even buy speaker grill emblems anymore for any of them without giving your serial number. And that's if they are even made anymore. I guess it's been said for years that "Klipsch isn't in the parts business". Ok....I was a manufacturers rep in a past career and I get that. But maybe they should be for such trivial trinkets and make that extra sale. If not, people will go elsewhere. Apparently they are worried about having their "emblems" put on things that have been modified or, God forbid, built from scratch and an emblem go on them. News Flash....3D printers. I get that people are what cause the ruckus and I agree that when it goes south, others need to step in and stop it as it is rather ridiculous. That is definitely a waste of time for moderators as people shouldn't be that way. This society seems to have gone to hell in a hand basket over the last few years, especially. My wife has been in dermatology for 19 years working with skin cancer doctors & surgeons and is a clinic manager and absolutely remarkable "seamstress of skin" that people will drive from hours and hours away because her stitching will leave no scars. Not to mention the stuff she can rebuild from an ear that's missing 50% of its "stuff" after cancer removal. But I swear...the way patients treat people in medical and what they think they are "deserving of" for treatment is absolutely absurd. Some need to be taken out back and whacked up side the head with a 2x4. I couldn't do her job. People need to chill out or this culture/society will never improve and we will implode are already imploding within.
  5. I get that, too. I took a screen shot of your comment just in case it comes up missing and I feel like using it elsewhere. Cheerleading....funny. I've used that term before with others as a descriptor of some here. Kind of like "self checkout"?
  6. That makes sense. It did seem to start going all over the place the last I saw with it...especially with him and the cap'n and then the speaker wire stuff.
  7. I see the one about "Deano is an approved Klipsch network builder" but it was the one with a member named "Knows Very Little" or something like that. Seemed to be a little bantering and was maybe 8+ pages deep and now gone.
  8. Is it me or has another big thread been deleted? And, the OP also had a couple of Garage Sale threads for items that maybe are already sold but those are "deleted" by him or something. More weirdness?
  9. Nice preamp. I've been looking for a P6 and talked to the rep for the area (OK, AR, N Tx) asking about price and availability. Said none till Jan 2023.....BUT, there's talk of a replacement for the P6 at that point. Hmm... Great sounding gear. GLWS!
  10. They were definitely doing some unloading of the Epic series at the end.
  11. It's odd that the serial numbers show them to be the 38th day of 1997 when on Klipsch's website, they show to have been made just until 1996. The KLF's came out in late 1996 after a short time from design to production. Seems like I heard from dealers it was 9 months or so.
  12. Those do look good....I always like the Cherry finish. If I were to decide to re-veneer mine, it would be in either Cherry, Walnut, or Mahogany. Nothing exotic and outlandish looking....just normal. Best part about veneering CF-3's is that it's really only the tops, sides and back edges that have to be done. Who cares about the bottoms.
  13. You do realize this thread is over 6 years old, right? But who knows.... @Wardsweb
  14. Wtf is that supposed to mean? And "no Jubilee. I'm so disappointed." Not everyone cares to blow $35k on speakers.
  15. I rotate between the CF-3 v1's and a pair of ads L1230's. Would really like to have a pair of the L1530's but they never show up around here. I've owned the above mentioned AR11's and they were a great sounding pair of speakers. Have also owned two pairs of Dynaco A25's and sounded pretty outstanding when "stacked".
  16. Well, at least their cat didn't get to the woofers, it would appear.
  17. @deang This is pretty darn awesome, man. Very happy for you. You've always posted some outstanding work and are known for your quality.
  18. No, but if you need a few, I may have that. Haven't used a player since back in early retail in 1986 or so.
  19. I've got one for sale that looks better and works for twice the price! Lol
  20. There are some things I like better about the ads speakers than Klipsch; amongst other brands. I think I missed out on the L1530's but definitely rare to find them in Arkansas. Kind of lucked out on the 1230's as they were in Fayetteville and my daughter was going to the U of A at the time, a couple years back I think.
  21. I have L1230's currently and a pair of CF-3's but have always wanted a set of 1530's...even if they are 40+ years old. Lol. At least the drivers can still be serviced.
  22. I've been debating on a pair of those Studio 590's for years now...way back when they started discounting. When they hit that sub $900 price, I really debate. It's either those or a pair of ads L1530's.
