  1. I've thought seriously about building new front baffles for my CF-3's where they are a WWT setup versus WTW so the horn is up top. When I had the front and rear boards off awhile back, I saw it wouldn't be too hard to replicate them for trying it. I have all of the tools to do it; table, jig, and circular saw, routers and bits, air tools, etc. Sure, I can't do the black wrapped material as that's heat formed on but I can still make something similar. (25 years of custom car audio installs and home installs help there) It wouldn't be a permanent thing as the front baffles are held on with 6 or 8 screws and can go right back where they were. I can also make the original grills work the same too. May have to do that before I have surgery done on both hands in the near future. (carpul tunnel, losing feeling, etc)
  2. Wow...a thousand miles. Was definitely a good price though. And I'm having a tough time finding the time to drive the 9 hours to Austin to pick my KLF-30's up! (anyone in Austin area headed to central ar?)
  3. What CPU are you using or did I miss that?
  4. Holy crap. They would've been in my living room already if they were with 200 miles of me.
  5. XP isnt really that stable anymore. I wouldn't recommend using jriver with that OS personally. I've had no troubles with it on Windows 7. My HTPC is running a dual core AMD with 8gb of memory and (2) 2tb hard drives in RAID 1 configuration. What CPU are you running? Memory?
  6. And now it's already deleted 2 minutes after. Ha
  7. No brainer. I'd pick those up for garage duty if I were any closer.
  8. Adwcleaner is one I use in our school district too. I haven't seen that mentioned but you might give it a try. Also run TDDSkiller and let it scan for a root virus. Was this using Chrome or IE? Uninstall Chrome and delete entries from the registry if you're comfortable with that.
  9. I know I love my CF-3's which are most likely v2 but they sound great. I'm going to try bi-amping them as soon as my Carver M200t gets back from a buddy/tech. 120wpc on high side and Carver M-1.0t MkII on low and at 400wpc should give them enough. But they sound great with low power tube amps too.
  10. And when movies/music is put on a "server", it was their/our understanding that legally one was supposed to retain the original hard copy original of it somewhere. Whether or not everyone does that is up to their own conscious. You definitely can't sell the copies though. Funny that you see burned CD's at thrift stores, etc, for sale.
  11. I've got a list made based on these recommendations and going to Hastings soon to peruse. I've got some Joe Bonamassa and he's exceptional to listen to.
  12. I have all of mine on my media server along with the originals being in a cabinet. When I was the rep for MediaMaxx (based out of Phoenix I believe), they were using up to 14TB RAID 1 systems and were big on letting end users know that they MUST keep their original software to legally use th media on their servers. The laws are very big towards the movie studios and record labels for the hardware side.
  13. I like how they dusted off the horns.
  14. Not that I recall but I could be wrong. http://www.klipsch.com/kg-4/details
  15. My condolences to you and your family, Alex. So sorry for your loss.
  16. "What goes up, must come down" except in this case, it will be the opposite. They know exactly what they're doing across the pond.
  17. I also have a fully rebuilt M200t that I may add in for the top end and biamp them. Always wanted to do that to the CF-3's and eventually the KLF-30's when I get them here. I know there are better amps than the Carvers but they are paid for and it's my homage to Bob I guess. Lol. I've also got a signed DTL-200 CD player I use occasionally for nostalgic purposes (that Bob worked on too) but I use my media server and vinyl more than anything. CD's get ripped and put away for the most part.
  18. I was a Sunfire rep for about 8 years (till 7/09) and was able to use a lot of the equipment that we offered. My biggest mistake was not buying one of the Symphonic Reference preamps for $150 when they were closing them out. :-/ My 1.0t sounds amazing as well as having the extra volume, too. Bob signed mine during one of our "A Night With Bob Carver" get togethers we held at our Dallas office and he went on for abiut an hour about the 1.0t and how much more potential it had but the "bean counters" told him to tune it back. So it's definitely an amp I'll keep since my name is on the front of it along with his. Ha. Bob is a great guy for sure. Maybe not loved by all with his ideas and implementations but he is an innovator in his field without a doubt.
  19. I've got a Stromberg Carlson ASR-120 hooked to my CF-3's right now and it's driving the crap out of them. I'm maybe 10 feet away but they do get damn loud. Sure, my Carver M-1.0t MkII at 400+ watts a side does play louder but the tubes sure do sound nice on them.
  20. Here's my little Stromburg Carlson ASR-120 I just finished up recapping the power supply (got rid of can cap) and rewired the 7199 sockets for 6GH8A's, etc. Damn good sounding little 15wpc amp on the CF-3's.
  21. Damn those tube amps are nice. Would work well with my CF-3's and KLF-30's. Sigh....
