  1. Interesting, actually the rectangular cup crossover should be later, like 87 or so, was that date off the crossover cup or the paper sticker? The round cup crossover has a tendency to break the inductors off. They should sound the same as the crossover cup is the only difference.
  2. My favorite combination is a quasi A-5 using 416 woofers, 288-16K drivers, with 805B horns. The midrange on the Voice of the Theaters is superb, but low bass and highs can be lacking.
  3. The 703 for the KLF-20 & 30, the 604 for the quartet, forte II, chorus II and many others, still used in the KI-362. I believe the 704 is used in the RF-7. The 510 is from roughly the same period as the KLF series. The 402 came a little later.
  4. it is actually a piece of veneered MDF, the same panel the klipschorn uses, just cut to jubilee size.
  5. Does the amp have AC filaments? Try shorting the input of the amp, not just disconnecting it to make sure it is from the amp.
  6. Spend the time treating your room. I waited three months for my first pair, ended up being well worth it as mine were among the first of the new build. It will probably be the same for the new woofer. Hopefully it will be more pro oriented instead of a carry over form the KLF-30.
  7. My opinion will be in the minority, but I have owned and listened to many sets of each. I prefer the forte over the forte II.
  8. The forte is a way, way better speaker. You will most likely lose interest in the KG-4 quickly after getting the forte. They are better all the way around.
  9. As far as pricing, you will be in the 1K area for a K402, and several hundred less for the 510. The jubilee uses the same woofer as a KLF-30 with an extra gasket on the front since it is front mounted. You can use the jubilee with an receiver if you go with a passive crossover. If you get a more sophisticated unit it may be worth your while to do the biamp with digital crossover/ delay thing.
  10. The Jubilee smokes the 904 hands down. I was lucky enough to hear them in an A-B comparison. Better bass and more efficiency are the biggest differences. It takes the 415 bass cabinet as found in the KPT-942-4-T to keep up. It would be hard to pick a favorite between those two. Try for the 402 horn, but the 510 sounds great too.
  11. I believe Colterphoto may have come up with the Cornwall 1.5 designation to show the transitional Cornwall that used the plastic mid horn and klipsch made mid driver. It is easy to tell those because they should have the B-3 crossover, and the other parts mentioned above. The driver pictured by davis419b is OEM and was used interchangeably with the dual phase plug solder terminal K-55-V.
  12. I believe the B-3 is for the later cornwalls that use the Heppner or Klipsch sourced mid drivers and will not work properly with the atlas drivers.
  13. I have had both. the KLF-30 is not a significant upgrade over the forte II. The KLF-30 does play louder with little effort. Also, shipping the KLF-30 is a nightmare, the mid horn would likely break at the driver and the woofer would likely come off the baffle ( I know this from experience).
  14. The frequency of the electricity is one reason why Japan is having energy shortages due to the Fukashima meltdown, one half of Japan is 50Hz and the other 60Hz. I bet you can figure out what technology we gave them during reconstruction and what the Euros did.
  15. It blows me away when i see people standing right up at the window of a microwave watching their food cook. It's a thousand plus watts of microwave energy, look what a few milliwatts of signal to a phone can get around, absolutely no problem finding my phone even in the elevator at work.
  16. Please have someone fix where it says "available at you local dealer" when you click on a series.
  17. I am curious about this tweeter... http://bmsspeakers.com/index.php?id=4528nd_specification
  18. I have always wanted to try radian drivers with my Jubilees. The reports of quality control from DJK and other have kept me away. I may have to just take the leap and try some anyway.
  19. Chris, I am not responding to your post as you seem to point out the damping of Mg. I really do not understand why it is not used more as a diaphragm material.
  20. Where is the proof that Mg is not suitable for a diaphragm? I have been using Mg fixtures in Aerospace for nearly 20 years because it exhibits good damping. the aluminum fixtures are much heavier and tax the digital controllers with all the modes they exhibit.
  21. No such beast, possibly they are KG-5.2's? A 10" woofer 12" passive and horn on the front.
  22. What model is the crossover? I have some 2000 Belles and they have the AB-2. I can't recall if there is an AB-3.
  23. Just make sure the room you rent can hold the jubs...You may have to sleep on them.
  24. The KL-650-THX is an active product, klipsch will not divulge the schematic on an active product so no one would have a real copy. The best you could do would be to sketch it out yourself.
