  1. I was probabbly one of the first to post about this on here/internet back when they came out. I still use mine everyday, twice a day for my commute. It has never gotten worse over the past two years. I never did glue or anything, and been fine 2 years since.
  2. Same thing with my X10's and Ipod Touch. Wish there was an 0.5 setting :-) It's just that at 5am for me on the train, it's dead quiet, and I just want the music to barely be heard as I try and sleep....the headphones do a great job blocking the ambient noise as is.
  3. I still don't think anything can touch these in its price range. I've had mine for about 5 years now, no issues. For every 1 person on here with an issue, I am sure 100+ where sold, and without issues. *knocks on wood* Same goes with most any reviews on the web. It's the unhappy ones who are vocal.
  4. Kung Fu Panda. Great visuals and awesome sound....next up would be Star Trek (2009) for me. AVS Forum Audio Tier Thread. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=17403627 I wonder if we should start our own Audio Tier here on the forums....
  5. I thought it was more like "screen size diagonal (inches) * 1.5 = viewing distance (inches)" which is basically that chart. For me, I have a 52" screen, and sit about 7' from it, and it ist just near perfrect for TV and BlueRay....actually been told could be larger. But yeah, so thats 52 * 1.5 = 78, and I site 84", so that is just about right. You don't want the screen to high up, otherwise your going to 'strain' your neck. Someone put it, your eye level should be around 1/3 up from bottom at least.
  6. Thanks all. It's not like I get ringing after listening. It definately seems my habits/sensativity changes dependning on location as well. Biggest problem as of late is riding on the train in the morning(5am). I turned the volume limit to like 10 percent on the ipod, and try and make it as low as possible, and well, its either off or still a little loud for background music for me to sleep too, but I do fall asleep. Just a problem of very sensative headphones. I definately adjust the the volume to somewhat compensate for the ambient noises not blocked out. I try not listen to loud, I guess I just love bass, and atleast at modest level, you get a nice thump compared to listening at lower levels.
  7. That is true, but even within genre's of like Rock, you have bands like MUSE which are rock at heart, but they have orchestra peices, and also some piano/synth stuff....and the new album has some pretty good and deep tracks. It is preference...it like so many people using the standard iPod headphones for listening...some people just don't realize what they are missing, and content with such.
  8. Guess he should use apple loseless. Problem I see with the IPod is that it doesn't have the highest quality DAC in for when playing through your stereo or even high quality headphones. I do notice subtle differences between playing off my iPod, vs using ipod/external headphone amp combo, and off a dedicated DAC from the computer in my headphones. If you do go the FLAC route, then EAC(Exact Audio Copy) is a nice ripper.
  9. I use a sub with my Heresy's. Helps fill in the lower octive very nicely...espcially feels needed when using it with the Sony 2-channel SS amp(even have the bass boost on). If I run the speakers off my Scott 299B, then I don't feel it needs it as so much, as the sound is much warmer/fuller.
  10. I wouldn't jump to get the bookshelf's so quick or the new reciever. How loud are you actually listening to it? Your saying you only hear the crack/pop during loud segements of the shows? The amp is suppose to do 105watts, which should be more then ample for those satellites. How does it sound with music? Do you get the same noises? How are your feeding the audio from your blu-ray to your AV reciever? HMDI, RCA out, toslink, didgital coax? How is the grounding in your house/home theatre setup? The pioneer is definately a step up, and I think a lot of people stay away from the Sony stuff here on the forums. I wouldn't jump to getting new speakers or the reciever so quickly.
  11. Not that is that old of a topic, but, had to bring this up after just seeing U2 and Muse @ Giant Stadium. The stage, and sound system is unbelievable. Tremedous amounts of bass. Found this link which gives some details of the system. http://clairglobal.com/u2/ Massive indeed.
  12. Article brings up an interesting point. "The Commission said that at 80 decibels, exposure should be limited to 40 hours a week. At 89 decibels, exposure should not exceed five hours a week." Now, compare the stock iPod headphones to my X10's and even Custom 1's at the same volume position is pretty great. This maybe a Prof Thump question.... So, my X10's are rated at 110db SPL/mW @ 50 ohms vs same the 108db SPL/mW @ 32 ohms of the C1's. Trying to lookup the spec's on my iTouch, and I can't find what it provides to the headphones. I have a HeadAmp Pico, and the specs are 0.7Wrms w/32 ohm load. To me using the X10's on this vs the iTouch, well, pretty different (much fuller sound, better bass) I don't use it all the time, as it's not convient for me to carry around when using the subway/commuting. How loud is too loud? Granted I listen a level which I can sustain for a long period of time, but my level does vary from say morning train ride in as background music for me to sleep, vs actual listening, vs me cranking it for a few songs. So, how loud is to loud to listen? What is 80 or 89 dB really like in the ears? How do I know if my comfort level of extended listening is say 90-95? I hate to say the that great noise isolation of the headphones hurts in determinging this, as I feel it plays tricks on me. Especially when commuting I feel I need to turn it up to get more bass impact vs sitting at home in a quiet room. Just food for thought.
  13. Splice it back together? I don't think it will be covered under warranty, but you can try and call the Support number.
  14. http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/klipsch-wood-logo-overview/ Wooden Plaque. I think it is nicer then some of the plastic ones. Have one hanging in my room.
  15. Well, not exactly a fishing picture, but it is a boating picture...should almost make this a boating thread vs fish only. Snapped this on my blackberry Saturady night just after susnset. Didn't have my good camera. :-(
  16. I have a Samsung LN52A650.....amazing and love it to death. Did a lot of research before pulling the trigger.
  17. 2000 watts of tube power? One amp? ... Pretty pictures. Keep us update.
  18. That's pretty cool. Picked this one up the other day...
  19. AVS Threads: Movies for Picture Quality Movies with BASS Movies for Audio Quality Just watched 'Kung Fu Panda' on Blu-Ray this weekend, and the sound and PQ was awesome. Good amount of bass, and surrounds. Transfomers and Dark Knight(Batman) have lots of bass as well. Definately give your sub a workout, as well and Cloverfield, and 'Master & Commander' I've had my mom over to watch some Blu-Ray's and well she can't believe how the movies look....said the 52" tv could be larger ...after being told I was nutz getting a tv that size for sitting 6' away.
  20. @Ramsha: What model of Bose do you have? I have read the past 4 pages, and did not see once you mentioning what exact product you have. I am curious. I don't know if I have posted this little story in this thread before or not, but here we go. So my cousin comes over saying he just bought the new V20 Lifestyle system. I was like congrats. How do you like them? He was like, wow, they are amazing. The sound comes from all around, and is some enveloping. Now he hadn't been to my house in quite some time, and I just recently setup my Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1's (the computer speakers) in my little 'man cave' room with when this happened, and 27" Westinghouse HDTV. I told him, hey have a listen to my little speaker setup and tell me what you think. So I popped in Transformers into the HD-DVD player with him, his brother-inlaw, and his brother-in-laws son. I played the first like 10 minutes when the base gets attacked. I had the system at my normal listening volume of -20. So I stopped the movie, and was like, what you think. He said wow. sounds totally different. He said he felt the explosions more, in the couch and in his chest. He said the gun shots also sounded more realistic then when he was watching 'Wanted' on his system the other day. They had more punch, and also more high end. Closer to real life when you hear a piece of glass shatter. So I told him I spent $300 on those speakers. His jaw dropped, and he told me, next time he is going to call me for any AV needs before he buys anything. I didn't ask him how much he paid for his system. One thing has always gotten me is that people say that Klipsch is to bright. You know to much highs. This comes from a variety of people. I ask them when was the last time you went to a concert or a live performance(even orchestra will do). They look at me weird. I respond with something along the lines as you will feel the sound is very similair between my home setup and what you hear on broadway, to a concert, to a live orchestra.
  21. Just got back from Mexican dinner and then a small rock concert. Ohh man, best frozen margeritta I ever had. Was awesome. Had a flight of tequilla as well. glad i just stuck with tequilla all night.

  24. We had to let someone go in April. Was a domain admin. When he was in the office being told he was let go, we had disabled all VPN accounts, and forced everyone in the firm to change password for vpn, and gave everyone new group ID's for VPN access. Better safe then sorry. ... never mind we blocked his whole subnet(neighboorhood for you non tech people) from his home ISP. No one else in firm was on same subnet. Not that we expected trouble, but you never know who is going to go out ok, or not....
