  1. Thanks Chris for taking the time to post the illustration, this makes it much easier to follow. Do you have any suggestions on amps that play well with the Xilica? Rick
  2. Roger, Thanks for confirming I'm on the right track. Do you have any suggestions on where I would find the correct time delays to use? Rick
  3. Thanks Khorn, One of the questions I had was how many inputs on the xilica I would need.
  4. I'm currently running my MCM 1900 stacks using the original passive networks which are probably due to be recapped. They are powered using a Yamaha Aventage RX A3040 9 channel amp, pre out to a Crown XLS 2500 into the passive networks. I like the idea of the Xilica XP 8080 and the flexibility it offers. It would be nice to tone down the MSM just a bit. What do you think, recap the passives or switch to active? If active, is the xilica XP 8080 the right choice for a 7.2 application?
  5. I just talked to Mark and he has been without internet for several days (weather related). I let him know you're interested in the stacks. He expects to be back on line in the next day or so.
  6. I think these are a great deal, especially with the Emission Labs 2A3 tubes. I sure like mine.
  7. That's a very good point, and one I hadn't considered. Thanks for the insight.
  8. You are correct, who to believe? According to VPI: VPI has conducted careful listening tests and determined that every tonearm we tried sounded better with its mechanical anti-skating disabled and the tracking force very slightly increased. My thought process is to follow VPI's recommendation regarding improved sound with no anti skate applied, understanding Peter is likely going to retip my carts sooner rather than later. He's already retyped my zephyr. Anyway, I like the way my system sounds with out the anti skate.
  9. Sorry it took me so long to respond, I've been traveling. You are correct, I am using the Counterintuitive, it makes adjustment so much easier. I've used the Foz on a Dynavector 20X2 HO, Soundsmith VPI Zephyr 1, and the Ortolan 2M Black, all with great results. To calibrate I just follow the instructions included with the unit.I first read about the Soundsmith unit over a year ago, not sure if it's still in development or not. Lastly, no, I don't use anti skate. I believe Harry probably knows better than I, and he prefers not using it so I don't either.
  10. I use a calibrated Fozgometer on a VPI Signature arm.
  11. I cant speak to the either of two options you listed as I haven't heard them. I can say that I have a pair of PSA V1800's and they are outstanding. One thing you can be sure of is the build quality of the PSA products is really first rate.
  12. Seems like a fair deal. No affiliation. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ele/5539370786.html
  13. Yep, I have the bronze mounted on an HK 45. It's also been on the VPI a couple of times. It's a capable cartridge for sure, but I prefer the black.
  14. I currently have the black, the Soundsmith Zephyr and the DV 2X HO. I have used them all on my VPI Classic II. Of the 3, the black is my favorite.
  15. Sorry for your trouble on an expensive appliance. I had a problem with a cheap set of LG head phones that went bad. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Decided then that it was an inexpensive lesson and that I would never buy one of their products again. You've confirmed that decision for me.
  16. Yep, those are Mark's. I got to hear them in October and thought they sounded great. I believe they are a steal at his asking price being in as new condition. If only I had the room..
  17. My "listening room" has been relegated to the shop. No way my wife is going to allow this stuff in her house. 24' X 48' X 11' ~ Home Theatre / Loud at one end, with 2 channel at the other.
  18. Watched it last night, great film.
  19. You have our prayers as well.
  20. I have had very good results both buying and selling on Audiogon, with two exceptions. I've twice purchased used cartridges with "less than 100 hours" and each time it was a complete rip-off. Thankfully, between Audiogon and Paypal I was able to recapture my funds both times. No more used carts for me though.
  21. Sorry if I missed it, but where are you located?
