  1. Yes it's like a tuning coil in an ANCIENT radio. Depending on how tight or loose it is screwed into the wood plate below changes the tweeter filter(Oops I meant balance) network...... here comes the . That's the BS button for those who didn't know. PWK used to flash it when stuff like this came about.
  2. How young(or old) are you? Just goofing on you, never seen Wayne's World?
  3. Yes the 'speaker codes' thread here on the Forum says the 17 on mine just means black grill cloth not necessarily full front grill. So I wonder how they kept track. I mean which speakers got full grills, which got grills just over the mid/tweeter like yours and which got no grills. Yours are LaScala Birch Raw
  4. Or just the complete model# Mine came with full front grills installed at the factory. (ignore the add on horns on top) My tags are illegible but originally they said LSB-17 or some such denoting the full front grills.
  5. @MicroMara if you are 100% sure your schematic of the RF7-II crossover is correct put it in the Klipsch crossover section of the Forum. @Travis In Austin let him add to the locked thread please.
  6. BTW...also I think those grill assemblies were installed at the factory. Are the tags still intact/legible?
  7. Yes so move the tweeter or crossover to verify the suspect crossover is OK or not...just a suggestion while you await a new diaphragm for the blown tweeter. BTW EVERYONE has blown a K77 tweeter, if not they haven't lived
  8. Yep, here it is from the manual: PLACEMENT Your Klipsch Heresy loudspeakers will perform well in a variety of locations but best results will be achieved using the following general guidelines: • Place on a common wall 6 to 15 feet apart. • Position them equidistant from the wall behind the speakers. • Leave at least 12” between the wall and the back of the speaker.
  9. I don't know the specific placement details but the Heresy now( Heresy IV ) have a rear port. I would think they need to be out from the wall some also just like the Chorus.
  10. The energy from the crossover to the tweeters is very low compared to the total being input. Also the frequency is above 5K Hz. So it somewhat depends on your meter what you will read out of the crossover. Did you put your 1 good tweeter on the speaker with the suspect bad crossover?
  11. Yes the original posted pictures of the Focal crossover had electrolytics. I can no longer see those. Now @rigma 's super duper passive crossovers, no, no electrolytics in his.
  12. I've got slow, slower and slowest...via phone co. DSL. Only other option is StarLink.
  13. I'm not a reproduction purist. I do not understand the desire to have nothing between a recording and my ears. We are listening after all to what some recording engineer/producer/mastering engineer and the artist decided we should be hearing. If they are messing with all types of equipment to manipulate the signal(s) recorded why shouldn't I do the same at the reproduction stage if it makes it sound better to me?
  14. To clarify a balanced connection can be used between any 2 components in a system. Does not need to be the whole chain whatever that might mean.
  15. Okey dokey...sorry. Would bug the sheet out of me.
  16. Yes......."strange days have tracked us down"
  17. So you 'Y' out of a source to 2 inputs on diiferent pre amps and you get a ground loop?
  18. If you still have a ground loop it is not fixed.
  19. My advice... fix this first... But I know nothing...Randy will tell you that.
