it's mind over matter, if you don't mind it don't matter.
  4. Why would one acquire this and not use it? Oh yea....life GLWYS
  5. There's that room full o' horns again! No I keeps tellin' ya thems antlers
  6. Is this a permanent or semi permanent location? If so solder baby solder. If you're moving again in a month, 2 months,6 months who cares.
  7. Thanks dude the @The Dude Is there a power supply page also? So is the 2.7 ohm between DC rtn and chassis (R6) always in circuit? Or is there a jumper terminal on the back of the D75a just like the D75? Looks like pin 1 of XLR and sleeve of TRS at input jack is tied to DC rtn(signal ground, P16). Kind of hard to jibe this schematic with photos John Warren posted earlier. Well I'm rambling, just thinking out loud, don't know if any body is following this. But I will continue with the mods to my non A units.
  8. Link to D75a schematic earlier in this thread is broken. Can someone re post it? For @Cantilope @John Warren? @The Dude?
  9. Thanks @CECAA850 I did see that one after you suggested trying Google shopping. Where is this guy getting new D75a s ?
  10. @John Warren Did you see my above couple of posts? I figured out why I was having trouble with 4 ohm loads. Now what I want to know/try to do is make a beefier +/- 10 zener source so I don't have to build 4 more regulator boards. The existing zeners are 10V 1/2 watt with 910 ohms series resistance to B+ and B-(approx 30V). To get the extra current needed I calculated 300 ohms and just barely 1 watt zener. But to be safe I'll just go with a 5 watt zener. I am surprised at how small a package those come in now a days and how inexpensive. Now the waiting for the parts to arrive.......
  11. Yes SIr, that was it! Amp powers up now into 4 ohms. This is a GREAT way to end a Friday. The zener regulators that are in the amp don't have enough poop to keep my op amps of choice working when the amp is loaded with 4 ohms.
  12. Well i have backed out all the mods except the bigger filter caps and better op amps and it still won't come up into 4 ohm loads. The +10 volts gets sucked down to almost 0. Building up a +10 and -10 volt little regulator board to see if I can keep the voltages up through power up .
  13. So you're just in Saturday mode, cool
  14. Ask them for the Thiele-Small parameters for that baby
  15. Buy it now, it's only $200 grand https://www.ebay.com/itm/Electrovoice-30-inch-woofer-with-custom-wood-cabinet-MADE-IN-USA-RARE-EV-30/222832402630?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D47300%26meid%3D2bb85b8febcc413cb13cb80e043f5200%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D191595578887%26itm%3D222832402630&_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850 I remember hearing about these 30" Electro voice woofers growing up. They used them in a speaker they called the Patrician. Never saw or heard one. But I also remember vaguely hearing that they were hard to control and caused intermodulation distortion(?)
  16. While you're at it make 1 or 2 for me Do they live across the international date line?
  17. Don't be confused Mike. It don't make a lot of sense until you live in it for 30 years. As Forest Gump said _ _ IT HAPPENS
  18. Classy ride to the pilgrimage Yea, Yea, Yea!
  19. Well other than that Mrs. Lincoln how did you like the play?
  20. If it rains slowly the desert will soak it up. If it's a downpour we get flash floods.
  21. Please take no offense, doesn't your set up sound pretty darn good already? Of course there are always ways to improve.

    What I Got Today!

@Tarheel That your new ride? S-W-E-E-T. Is that what you'll be driving to the pilgrimage this year?
  23. @Gnote so it sounds like the Xilica will do your level shifting for you. Nothing will be needed between your AVR and its inputs. I am assuming your AVR has pre outs on RCA type connectors. You will then need something to go from RCA to XLR. My humble suggestion is to use adapter cables from Monoprice. They are wired the proper way to keep the unbalanced AVR outputs signal ground/chassis ground current only going into the chassis of the Xilica. https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=115&cp_id=11509&cs_id=1150902&p_id=4777&seq=1&format=2 I'm sure there are probably other manufacturers who make similar and properly wired cables but Monoprice I know from personal experience are correct(and they're inexpensive) If I have time this afternoon I will put my Xilica on the bench and inject unbalanced signals at consumer reference levels and see (measure) what it does. And report back.
  24. @Chris A you use Xilicas with unbalanced consumer gear? @Gnote I think the Xilicas have enough "gain reach" to use with unbalacned equipment. Let's see what Chris has to say. @MetropolisLakeOutfitters these work with home gear correct?
