  1. In a suburb 20-25 miles west of St. Louis is an RC-7: https://stlouis.craigslist.org/ele/5085026856.html No affiliation. I am 30 miles west of downtown STL.
  2. Really like your pine paneling. Oh, and the Klipsch Atmos aren't bad either!
  3. Mark, GLWS! I have (almost--the C-7 is black) the exact same speakers as you--plus a pair of black KLF-20s. They are a wonderful series!
  4. Kind response. Thank you.
  5. Done (#79 of the leading 80), and good luck. P.S. Though my preference is south of the Mason-Dixon line, you evidently found and enjoyed several good reasons for venturing north of it during your stay!
  6. ^^^ Looks fantastic! But for those of us who may be slightly more "conservative" with our energy expenditure . . . .
  7. Further, talking back and forth with others about what distinguishes the "perfect" from the "good" is a lot of fun, isn't it? Difficult to have much genuine discussion if there is nothing with which to compare/contrast.
  8. Yup, Dave, The expression is something like, "Contentment is wanting what you have, not having what you want". Of course, there are legitimate reasons to seek "better", but for some it seems acquisition is more the desired end, rather than the profferred reason--take your pick of the numerous, reasonable-sounding ones. Buying/acquisition motives are easy enough to identify in others, and difficult to detect in ourselves. And, hooboy, can I relate to--"Now I'm older, and I don't want "perfect" I want "good", that being what sounds good to my ears."
  9. Oh Boy, This threads going to get shut down Mark Hi, Mark, maybe I was a bit obtuse, maybe I just missed out on your joke. Either way, sorry. What I intended to say is that the many people who simply live good and respectable lives serve this country well, without ever having donned a uniform. I appreciate them very much. And only wish that they were more commonplace, still!
  10. I say this with 100% conviction: "good" people also (have) serve(d). By "good", I mean people that agree with and have acted upon the premises of our Founding Fathers: our republican form of government has two foundational requirements. That the citizenry be educated and that it be moral. Without either of those, representative government simply will not endure. So, my opinion is as above: thank you to the MANY who have served this country so well!
  11. Hi, again, Scrappy, Yeah, we could swap some sea stories. I was in 1968-1973 (3 years of sea duty, 2 ashore). One of these days when we meet, we'll have to trade some tall tales about the worst storm we were in. What a ride!! For 3 days!!
  12. Isn't it "funny", though, when your desire is to pass along a good deal to a purchaser, how often you come across a good deal, too? Happened just 2 days ago to me. I wasn't really looking to do anything, but another Forum member was kind enough to alert me to an excellent opportunity just a few miles down the road from me. Made contact w/ the CL seller, went out there and concluded a superb deal. Really nice guy. He was happy to be spreading the enjoyment of Klipsch speakers AND a wonderful price at the same time. Before I left, he asked if I had an interest in a small sub (which now is perfect in my home office) and wouldn't take a penny for it. I hope the buyers of the many speakers and several receivers I have sold feel that I have given them really good deals, too!
  13. You know, of course, that your sales only exchange one set of problems for another: while you eliminated one, now you have the "problem" of identifying what is next on the purchase list, negotiating, making whatever logistical arrangements, and so on. OTOH, a good problem to have, right? Congrats.
  14. Dave, I'll bet your CF-4s and that 15" DIY sub REALLY shake things up. I "wimped out" w/ a 12" Outlaw that goes down to about 16Hz. And, the truth is--bass and HT purists, please forgive me--that I am really very satisfied. I know the 15" that I was thinking I would build (Stonehenge) would have been fantastic, but its physical size would have become a placement and an aesthetic issue. But, back to your setup, I can imagine how much pleasure those fine speakers give you--hour after month after years!
  15. Hey, F1Audio, welcome! Have the 20s and the C7, paired with the 30s in my great room. $550? Waste no more time!!! If they are in reasonable or better condition, you will never look back. Please let us know: 1) that you succeeded in getting them, and 2) what you think of them installed in your area.
  16. Know what you all mean. I remember back in college, at age 19 I decided that I really should learn something about "good"/classical music, so that I might enjoy something beyond the Coasters (which I still like, BTW). Anyway, immersed myself, and accomplished my purpose(s). Favorite piece of all time: Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo. Especially the performance by John Williams with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra conducted by Eugene Ormandy (would have been in the '60s). In my mind the absolutely perfect piece of music, and the particular guitar performance by John Williams was the best of all performances (vs other guitarists) I have ever heard. The last (roughly) third of the 2nd movement, especially. Absolutely perfect integration of instrumental power and sensitivity, suspenseful lead-in, powerful romantic passages (with the horn in contrast), and wonderful, paced (musical) resolution. Back in the day, I had the incredible pleasure of seeing performers like Andres Segovia, Isaac Stern, Artur Rubenstein, and even Carlos Montoya in person--all in San Francisco. Anybody else "old enough" to remember/have seen and heard those artists? What a thrill it was!!! And all because we tended to aspire UPWARD back then, rather than the opposite direction of so many "aspirations" today--sorry, just had to include my personal observation.
  17. My father was born in 1917, in a very small, north Georgia town. Educated in a one-room schoolhouse. However, back then education and thinking were important (suspect his "self-esteem" wasn't considered, and all the PC bs hadn't been thought of yet). Anyway, he skipped 3 grades, entered college at 14, and stayed there 3 years, until he was old enough to be accepted in the Naval Academy, at 17. Of course, was during the Depression, and he and his family were thrilled at all the benefits of that opportunity. He spent the next 24 years, fought 2 wars, and rose to the rank of Captain. Then, his younger brother (by 10 years or so) actually turned out to be brighter still, and achieved considerable recognition as a PhD in Animal Science and Biology at the University of Georgia. It is amazing what necessity and some backbone will produce when all others around are finding reasons why something cannot be done . . . and surely accomplishing nothing in the process.
  18. Hey, Dave (wvu80), my friend, 1. I'll bet those CF-4s sound FANTASTIC; 2. You don't charge for all your help to benefit others! You, and other Forum members, are great people!!!
  19. Michael, Bill (^) said it briefly, and well. And, indeed, trials are never fun or easy, and we want them over as quickly as possible. Simply . . . GO AWAY! But, while God does not promise life without trials and pain (in fact promises trials and pain), He also promises to use them for the long-term good of others and you--if you will trust, and let Him. I will pray for you and your circumstances; I also am thinking about an idea that may be helpful. Jim
  20. ^ Ain't that the truth! Some people prefer vanilla ice cream, some chocolate, some strawberry, and SOME want Neopolitan. I have KLF-30s up front, 20s as surrounds and LOVE how they sound, and how the big speakers look. They remind me of Mike Tyson, in a tux, dancing like Fred Astaire. Show my age much? It sets an anticipation of the audio experience that may be expected. Of course, a very understanding wife helps a lot, too, in carrying it off.
  21. Craig, undoubtedly you have treated his daughter and grandchildren with love and honor. Likewise, your FIL. Don't know of a better way to have excellent relations between ourselves and others than that. Evidently, you have figured out the "what" of things, and their proper order. No wonder you mourn, but you have good company/people on this Forum who do understand. Better yet, many share their understanding through their prayers of the glorious eternity that is offered to us . . . . Peace to you and yours.
  22. Ibiza, I AM old enough to remember. But, the culture, its principles and values and resultant behavior make such a difference. Of course, when we are schooled to think that Life and "things" are all about us , and how we "feel" about them, absolutes evaporate. The fact is that our human nature has not evolved one iota over the thousands of years of "progress", but our responsibility, actions, and expectations surely have.
