  1. Man it is amazing how many people are impacted by this terrible disease I wish for the best outcome for all dealing with it in one way or another. I was just officially diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma at age 46 March 3rd and started treatment last week after an emergency back surgery on March 21st. I've been dealing with debilitating back pain since Dec '21, got better and I went back to work only to have my L2 vertebrae collapse end of July '22. They treated it like a simple compression fracture said surgery was optional seemed stable but by the end of Jan '23 it "pancaked" and the radiologist suspected it was a pathological fracture. Several tests later turns out I have a handful of lesions ribs sternum and spine started chemo last Tuesday so far no bad reactions except insomnia from the steroids' but its early on yet. Dr seems confident with my relatively young age and good health I should be able to get this into remission quickly. On the upside its been 5 weeks since my surgery and my back feels great, been off all pain meds including Tylenol for a few days now first time in almost a year and a half and able to walk quite comfortably 4-5 miles a day. As long as the chemo works and doesn't kick my butt too bad should be able to go back to work mid June. Being diagnosed certainly changed my outlook on life amazing how many things seem trivial now and not worth the energy while other things become more important. None of us escape this place alive and could pass at any moment for any number of reasons but being labeled "terminal," well its like seeing the light already off in the distance luckily for now I'm in good health and it seems far away but its there.
  2. Last I heard I believe it was going to retail for $3k production has been delayed until the end of the year though. This will include an APP for basic remote features. Looks interesting I'm sure it will sound fantastic.
  3. Wow pretty low key system RP-600's with a Decware amp? I know the 160m's sound pretty good never heard the newer ones.

I have found the mid output to be just too high in these speakers dialing them back 2db really helps balance them out for comparison the forte II has a sensitivity of 99db with the same mid dialed back via crossover 10db, the CH-II has a sensitivity of 101db but the same mid is only dialed back 6db per crossover specs I believe this is why many prefer the forte sound over the Chorus but of course there is always the standard variables like rooms and equipment matching, listening habits and what not. It may be that you would enjoy the fortes if you move these and a pair becomes available for a reasonable price.
  5. The veneer is very thin if you sand too far you'll lose the wood grain and end up with smooth spots.

I always thought the tweeters were smoother at higher volumes but the crossovers with Sonicaps tend to be very bright and fatiguing at higher levels which is a shame because they sound great at low volumes with lots of detail.

Those appear to be in really nice shape they should sell quickly- can I ask what you replaced them with?
  8. These showed up on eBay not long ago: https://www.ebay.com/itm/404240086961?hash=item5e1e9637b1:g:C2QAAOSw2AVkNG6x&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4MubXB6NJYjtpld3%2BYV7OW5ljrmNQLBxZfWC0DiSNGZMy83x%2FbOGwre5reuEtCJqpj1Owg7mQDV4imp1y3fM9n6aVlXqRhSF5LwVWGxlHGodo6QLXd%2F5Qc%2F7W3dZYGvTRSg6KxmrElSktPr62xOBt7rOrIV41txU%2Bnk6XDfv5s5BzfZ6RfalrM6ioYAKZN2Bl7Pu7yA8OCr6UwHz8CAW2fxFfYs%2B3sqnc%2F2uD3tSHfbpkpq2T1VeJgXie%2Bd%2Bqn0AU0j4PTg7o8dp6kI1jWFcWRdHMr%2FSHtLHn3D5lEYKiMBc|tkp%3ABk9SR8LJ57n0YQ You are absolutely right in securing spare parts if I owned a pair of these speakers I'd pick up what I could when available you just never know what might happen.
  9. I bought a pair of 81's brand new some years back for a bedroom system they sounded pretty good. Came across a deal on a pair of 75's and thought what the heck I'll try them out. Long story short the 81's went up for sale after just a few hours with the 75's. If you're looking for a "big" sound hard to beat the 75's. They are a little "mid" centric and benefit from a sub but lots of variables there, might have just been my room at the time. I had the P-17's, they sound very nice and clean but absolutely needed a sub, very thin sounding without one.
  10. They appear to be in nice shape not a bad price the way things have been trending and it does say "obo." It's a shame about the risers especially on these that came with the plywood reinforcement, very stout makes them secure enough to use as a handle while in transport Klipsch left that out on the II's. Looks like a deal for someone.
  11. It's hard to put into words the improvement over the already great 275's (but I'll try) I know its almost sacrilege to run high wattage on the Klipsch speakers and a lot of people seem to equate watts with loudness but as available power has stepped up in my system with these tube amps (275, dual 275's and now 180's) I have not listened any louder but transparency, resolution, balance separation of and air around instruments have all improved with each step up but these 180 amps make everything sound just so real like the band is in the room the overall clarity is so real its hard to believe. As much as I like the 275's these 180's are just in a whole other league of hi-fi no comparison.
  12. Finally stepped up to the "big boys," all I can say is WOW! I cannot imagine a more perfect sounding amplifier top to bottom.
  13. Anyone check out the Carver room?
  14. This is starting today Bob Carver has a room set up with the new 285 amplifier. Looks like Klipsch is going to be there, any members going? https://axpona.com/
  15. These speakers have the k-604 threaded insert horn so the likely have the 2" k-66 aluminum drivers or possibly the k-70g if they're newer. Either way the k-42 woofers alone are worth the asking price very good deal for somebody.
  16. The forte 1's are great speakers I'd say go for it unless you have the extra cash for the IV's they can be had at discount for $3750 a pair if you don't mind "B" stock.

That's a pretty large space you'll want something with some power Bob Carver is releasing a new amplifier set to ship in approx. 6 weeks model 285 rated at 85 watts x's 2. Right now there is a preorder option with $1k off retail for a limited number of amps. Picture show copper color this has been changed to chrome. https://www.bobcarvercorp.com/product-page/bob-carver-ram285-stereo-2-x85-watts-vacuum-tube-amplifier
  18. Makes sense I would be concerned that changing the balance too much will make the speakers sound off because of the high crossover point at 800hz. I would double check settings on the preamp make sure they're not set to "small" or otherwise out of tune also placement of the speakers can add or take away bass listening position plays a factor you could be seated in a "dead" spot bass wise in relation to the 30's. Another thing to check be concerned about is the cabinets some need to be re-sealed if they have leaky panels that will cut bass output by a lot. Another thing to consider is adding a sub and or a rear sub.
  19. Glad to see TMR has a good sense of humor I have bought many items from them over the years always top service.
  20. Welcome to the forum and the land of Klipsch! The KG-4's are a great gateway speaker very nice for what they are but it can get quite a bit better the further up the chain you go. The crossovers to me both look stock if I had to guess I'd say the one with the board is a newer version either the pair aren't matched serial number wise or this was a transition pair where they used the last one of the previous type and started using the new type. I wouldn't worry about them if they sound good to you.
  21. Yes several have the only acceptable statement on this forum however is JEM all the way baby, yeah!!
  22. Looks like these were built in 2009 they were the flagship of the Reference line at the time currently the RF-7-III holds that title at $2200 ea. MSRP: https://www.klipsch.com/products/rf-7-iii-floorstanding-speaker
  23. If I'm reading the SN correctly that was made in 2006 which seems right for an original 64.
  24. A lot of the older Klipsch speakers still hold their own performance wise when working properly either restored to factory spec or modified making them great options for those who cannot afford to buy new. Some people like to tinker or experiment like replacing easy bolt on items but not completely change the design then there are those that once they get started take it all the way. I'd have to believe most people just want to acquire, position and listen and they are going to buy what they can afford. I think Klipsch has done a great job at almost any price point from $200 bookshelf to $36k Jubilee with a ton of stuff in-between I can't remember ever listening to a Klipsch speaker that I did not like new or old just some sound better than others in certain situations so they offer something for everybody. Tweakers going to tweak, no matter what Klipsch allows here or not conversations will just be had on other platforms most the info you need is easy to find in the search bar or Google. If you find a member here that has experience in what you're trying to accomplish just send them a PM last I heard private conversations are still allowed.
  25. This really bites man I'm sorry to hear this and hope for the best outcome! Seems like everyone goes through this at some point in their life (some times multiple times) either you end up with it in some form or know someone very close who does its tough all around for everyone so prayers for you and your loved ones.
