  1. I have tried them all over the years and the RC-7 matches up quite close to the forte and Chorus and is a solid performer, best option for what is available other than a third tower in my opinion. I have tried phantom center as well and always go back to my trusty ole RC-7 as it works perfect and sounds great.

    Cherry RF7IIs

I couldn't help myself... I'm out of town so won't be able to pick them up until the middle of the week though but really looking forward to them!
  3. I've used a RC-7 with fortes and they sound great together.
  4. Here's a picture of the back of his unit:
  5. That has been suggested and is exactly what he needs to do but he will need some sort of RCA splitter as there appears to only be one set of pre-outs on his integrated unit and they are connected with jumpers. If the jumpers are removed I'm fairly certain it removes the onboard amp from the processor, which is a nice feature to have on an integrated amplifier, leaves the opportunity open for external amplification, or, in this situation the ability to send the signal to a subwoofer.
  6. I had to do this because I swapped out a pair of forte II's for a pair of RF-5's where the horn is at the top and perfect height for my listening position. When I plugged in the forte II's at first blush they sounded really, really bad, no highs to speak of and the sound was muffled compared to the Rf-5's. I knew this wasn't right and immediately noticed the mid horn on the forte II was sitting a good foot or more below the RF-5 horn. I tilted the fortes back with a 1" block which pretty much aimed the horns about dead center of my back wall. It "fixed" my issues I was having, the speakers sounded fantastic once I got them set right like I knew they should. The room I had them in is way too small for that slight angle to cause any ceiling reflection problems. Even if it did create some sort of new problem it was far less obvious than the one it fixed.
  7. That's a great deal, if I were near you I'd grab these up right now. Someone should jump on this! Good luck with your sale
  8. I had this same problem with my last pair of forte II's. All I did was place a 1" block under the front edge of the speakers to slightly angle them up so I was staring straight down the barrel of the mid horn and problem solved. Yes, it made a huge difference.
  9. Very nice speakers and good price too, good luck with your sale!
  10. That's how I run my HIP's and they sound great that way
  11. I've used the "piggyback" style RCA's before and they worked great, same as a splitter pretty much.
  12. Good point about the Cornwall, that could very well be why. I always assumed the Chorus 1 had front ports like that because of the "pro" woofer, which was sold separately as a sub in a similarly designed, front ported cabinet.
  13. Yes, this was my immediate concern when I learned of these speakers but as someone else has pointed the immanent failure of the electronics may be a blessing in disguise in the near? future for bargain hunters like myself.
  14. Sorry, I didn't see this before my last post.
  15. I guess it would depend on which definition of "Heritage" you're using. From my understanding Mr. Klipsch did have a hand in designing the forte / Chorus models, so shouldn't those at least count? Am I to assume based on your fab-five speaker list of "true" Heritage speakers that Mr Klipsch had no help at all in any of their designs? Is that where the line is drawn, whether or not he had help designing the speaker? At what level of influence do you deem a speaker PWK design?
  16. This is exactly the point I was trying to make about updating the Cornwall III. The Cornwall III in my mind is a lesser product than the previous versions and there are a dozen ways to improve upon the design. Klipsch has done nothing to try and fix it so secondary markets (at least two I'm aware of) have popped up and flourished big time because of this.
  17. If Paul Klipsch had a hand in building the original forte then why would it not be considered a Heritage speaker? What exactly defines a "Heritage" speaker? To me, if you want to get right down to it I don't think the Cornwall III or Heresy III should be considered "Heritage" speakers as they no longer use the k-55 mid driver or k-77 tweeter. If these two models are "Heritage" speakers than the Quartet, forte and Chorus should be as well. Just my opinion.
  18. Heritage: "noting or relating to a product, place, etc., that evokes a nostalgic sense of tradition or history"
  19. There's been a nice pair in oak finish on Audiogon for quite awhile for $1200. As much as I like the Chorus line I'd have to think $1000 would be absolutely top dollar for a mint pair, and even that seems like a stretch. I sold my last pair that were very near mint in Walnut finish with Crites crossovers and tweeters for $900.
  20. Movies pretty much require a subwoofer, its not reasonable to expect any main speakers to reach that low.
  21. Wow, this has been a very interesting read, I did skim through some of it. Srinath, congrats on the weight loss, what you're doing takes a tremendous amount of effort and self control, I just hope you're staying in steady contact with your doctor to ensure everything is going ok. Also, do you have a diet plan for when you reach your optimal weight? Are you now "fasting" in cycles forever or is there a point where you'll eat every day again?
  22. Cool story Bro! It is amazing just how far down the rabbit hole one can go and still not see the bottom.
  23. This was just a little experiment of mine to pass the time until I found my HIP's, which I have and now the forte II's are down the road sitting in someone else's house. I think once I have the room again for larger speakers I may end up building my own Cornscala's in a Chorus size / shaped cabinet.
  24. As good as these mid drivers are the biggest improvement for my speakers were the new tweeters, the CT-120's. I cannot say enough good things about either of these products from Bob Crites, well worth the time and money spent IMO.
