  1. Many different brands around. So do Klipsch Sub have a "Signature Sound" like the normal speaker line ? I have a couple of different brands of speakers but prefer the Klipsch sound over the others. Does this hold true for subs or are they all the same ?
  2. How far does a 15" inch have to move to play a 20Hz signal at 95DB or so. I heard a 12" has to move about 1/2 inch but I'm not sure how accurate that is. I would imagine the distortion level would be kind of high compared to horn loading.
  3. A Good Amp will make your system sound better than a sub.
  4. Small speakers and a sub are OK----BUT---IMHO---for the room filling mid bass sounds, a larger speaker is going to be better. It's easy to get the THUMP THUMP sound from a sub but it needs to be filled with the mid bass that a large speaker provides. I have 4 bookies sitting in storage and they sound fine but they don't sound as good as my towers.
  5. $2200 for a SB is Steep. At least they sold one.
  6. This is why I use an EQ and not audssey. I know what I personally like in sound and that's what I get.
  7. I was sitting here wondering what kind of treatment caused those speakers to be in that condition. They've been put through the wringer.
  8. After a tongue wag and a threat---take up a collection for repairs.
  9. Clapton has good and bad recordings. Let it Rain and After Midnight--Bad. The Album, There's One in Every Crowd, Good. Someone has a Tin Ear.
  10. In my book, there is no such thing as a front-center speaker that is too large, especially if you listen to 5 channel music. There is mucho music that comes through the center so it's best to get the best center you can afford. Even with TV and movies much more come through other than talking. More--like with Geico.
  11. For those passing through Harrisonburg VA, The Crutchfield Store is a block from I-81 on Rt 33. I was there Friday and they have a beautiful pair of cherry ?, LSII in a small demo room. This is for anyone wanting to demo a pair, now you know where one is at. The Crutchfield Staff was very nice and they had a nice display of equipment. A real B&M store. I went there for some connectors and they fixed me right up.
  12. Is your volume turned all the way down--just for safety ? Keep it down until you find the problem.
  13. They'll be OK for an entry level Klipsch and priced lower than earlier models. I though other entry models were priced too high for lower tier. Klipsch has to compete in lower priced models because there is stiff competition for dollars. These will probably sell well at big box stores especially with the price drop. In a metro area with lots-o-people, unlike where I live, I'd look for good conditioned mid line "used" for about the same price. The one nice thing is they made pretty nice matching center and Dolby Atmos Speakers to match the system. So you can build a complete nice system. They put more into this line than other entry level lines. I also agree with not calling these reference. Too many reference lines in the Klipsch Catalog.
  14. MONSTER BEER--MONSTER never sues anyone.
  15. For both music and movies I find that I have plenty of low frequency information. Yeah, I know that certain low info is in movies and pipe organs but right now--I'm not missing it. I have 4 towers in the room and the Polk towers dig lower than the Klipsch towers and there is actually a lot of low frequency info in the surround mix. In 99 % of anything I listen to, you'd think I had a sub running. I have 12--- 6&1/2 Low/Mid drivers in my system and they sound pretty good. If my space was larger---the situation would be different. If the OP has a smaller area, he could give up the sub for now and get better towers for a start.
  16. OK--different designs Personally--I like the sound of horns and the way they present music. I have several speakers--one pair bigger than my Klipsch but I use my klipsch for my mains because I like the Klipsch Sound. It's a matter of taste. My other speakers are great speakers too but they are not horn loaded. I have 2 different brands in my system and it sounds awesome. If your listening space is not a BIG room you might be able to not get a sub yet and go for the model you want--Klipsch have a Big Sound. I don't use a sub and really do not miss it.
  17. STAR WARS MEETS THE MUPPETS---Return of the Jedi. Not a Blu Ray but on TNT---While some of the movie is OK, too many muppets for me. The Lightsaber is so lame. Give me a gun.
  18. I want something from China----Chinese Food.
  19. I SAW THE AD It was in my FB News Feed. The new K Horn also has new , special internal wiring.
  20. Even if they had offered 50% off--I would not have taken them. Too much damage.
  21. If it was very slight damage it might be OK but that is Not. That is Major Damage and these are defective in workmanship which warrants a return.
