  1. You want to biamp what now? šŸ‘. Don't make your head spin unless you have a dedicated stereo preamp and dual amps with gain controls. Otherwise, experiment failed.
  2. Not to sidetrack the thread, but after hearing wyred 4 Sound amps, I was FLOORED at how good they sound (I had never heard an excellent sounding digital amp before this) . For that kind of power need and the coin the macs cost, maybe give them a consideration on the used market. I am thinking about picking up one of their Lower power models for myself.
  3. "history repeats itself" Survival of the fittest. We are moving towards it.
  4. I am surprised honestly. I have compared side to side in my systems and in the studio and I dumped disc's 10 years ago. The difference wasn't the least bit subtle. I heard the EXTREME opposite of what you both heard. Vinyl trumps digital IMO but guess what? I'm not spending $10 for every two songs I want to hear. Hence uncompressed FLAC and WAV files for me.
  5. Hate to tell you, but after looking at the pictures (I am very familiar with making my own cables) the cables you recommended are mostly all super affordable pro cables and like I said you can choose any termination you want for 25 to 40% max of his price. Leaves plenty of room for the fancy jackets he adds. To each his or her own I suppose. For that coin I would MUCH rather buy custom cables from audio advisor. Makes me chuckle a bit, but klipsch now uses Audioquest Type 4 internally in their new klipschorn according to their website. A damn good affordable cable. For more bass than that, go type 8. Less than the mentioned link above and IMO better sounding with a RETURN POLICY if you aren't happy.
  6. Straight from the link you posted, I rest my case "Schmitt Custom Audio Interconnects are built with Premium Studio Quality cable from Belden, Mogami, Gotham and Canare...."
  7. Nice, glad someone got a deal from all of those posts haha. They were Def useful. I have purchased from that seller in the past and would again without hesitation.
  8. Not enough details but get a QUALITY DAC, build a computer with quality components the right way to isolate noise and rip your files correctly with exact audio copy. A "CD" sounding better? I don't know about that one.....
  9. That sir is surely a wise retired man's setup. Excellent work sir, looks great and surely sounds even better. I am also interested in what other "crazies" have for office setups. I have no office as I mobile at work and thus no stereo there.
  10. Just saw those are unbalanced cables, not speaker cables. Anyhow, my recommendation sticks for speaker cables on the budget.
  11. Congrats. Heres a suggestion for others. For a touch more money, you can buy mogami W3103 from performance audio by the foot and pick your own terminations. I have used that cable for many years and it sounds fantastic. That is my budget go to cable if it helps anyone.
  12. My pair took 4+ months to sell posted in the low 2k range initially Walnut pair near mint.
  13. 2500? I don't think so..... I had a pair of klipschorns almost exact same year and Walnut finish that sat for an EXTENDED period of time at jist over 2k. I say 2k TOPS based on that experience alone. They were a true 8/10+ condition.
  14. @USNRET, like you I tried the same without impressive results and I will be going back to a set of Cornwalls myself. Best overall solution in my room as well besides heresys which I loved but.....I crave the low bass as well and don't have much room for sub(s). The Cornwalls sound awesome even at very low volumes when need be.
  15. Yes. SELDOMLY for short periods of time, but yes. I listen to much different music than most of you here. This is why I don't post in the music portions of this forum and why I chuckled at the 85 and under club on LA scalas (no offense to anyone and I completely understand the preservation of hearing). I just couldn't buy a Z06 corvette and drive it 35 mph or less 90% of the time.
  16. I hear ya and I understand. I will say that seldomly, I use ALL of the power from my parasound a23 on Cornwalls..... So to each his or her own. 75% of the time or more I'm sure a 20 to 40 Watt tube amp would more than suffice for my needs.
  17. Damn. Terrible luck there. For that reason I prefer a hatchback or SUV when possible. I was able to fit a pair of Cornwalls in a small hatchback by the MM. It also rained with 20% or less Chance.
  18. Go to Costco, get a cheap memory foam mattress. Wrap in harbor freight blankets with tape. Done. What you do with the mattress thereafter šŸ˜
  19. +1. They can be had for very little money used and have a smooth sound with soft clipping circuitry.
  20. Not to sidetrack this thread, but would someone mind PMing me a link to the Texas laws that aid students financially that we speak of here? I have a friend from CA that moved to Texas a couple years ago and I don't think he is aware of what is being discussed here. Thanks
  21. OK last post. This would complete a 5 channel system with amazing sound around your budget. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649455737-bampk-st1430-3-ch-amp/ https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649454790-bampk-reference-1252-s2-amplifier/ OR..... They also used to make pretty decent receivers I have heard, but never owned one myself. I have owned their stereo separates and they were damn good for the money if you ask me. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649447879-bampk-507-series-2/
