  1. I have a pair of B stock H3's in Lacewood veneer that I bought in 2012 for $1299. The H4's have a tractix midrange and the crossover appears to be different. I drive them with tubes. I'm not sure *I* could tolerate them driven by solid state. I wonder if the new designs were voiced to accomdate solid state amps? I'd like to hear the 4's but don't think I'll part with my 3's.
  2. An audio buddy in California has the QS mono 120's and loves them. QS products are excellent. PS Tarheel, he's the one that got me going with the rPlay.
  3. I'm old and semi retired, I think you should look int a MHDT Labs Orchid DAC. Me thinks it would make you smile.
  4. What is the rest of your system and will streaming be your only source?
  5. Below is an Inspire parallel single ended pentode amp built by Dennis Had retired founder of Cary Audio. I'm running Pope 6V6GT's with a Sophia Blue 6SL7 and a 5Y3 rectifier driving Heresy III's with a HSU subwoofer. It can run many different tubes by changing the rectifier. I attached a sheet of combinations provided by Dennis. With 6V6's , 6L6GA's etc. and a 5Y3 rectifier it runs very cool and sounds excellent. I bought this one second hand. The seller had Dennis build a parallel single ended 45 amplifier, 5 watts, for him. He will be driving Forte III's with it. Pic attached. These are fine amps and incorporate 60 years of audio design experience. They play well with Klipsch. There is a 5,000 post thread on https://www.audioaficionado.org/showthread.php?t=24170&highlight=PSE+amplifier Enjoy.
  6. You're welcome. I liked the Spotify interface more than Tidal's but to me Tidal sounds better. The problem I had with streaming is all the techno babble etc. A friend told me about the rPlay and I got it on sale from Parts Connexion for $299. It was simple to get up and running and I'll keep it a long time.
  7. Have a look here: https://www.ankaudiokits.com/ Quicksilver amps are very nice.
  8. The Psvane small signal tubes are excellent in the right circuit.
  9. I used EML solid plate 45's in a Jeff Korneff amp and could not go back to NOS 45's.
  10. I have an Aretha preamp from Erhard Audio. http://www.erhard-audio.com/Aretha.html The tone controls, especially the treble, are great for taming less than stellar recordings. I did not get the remote or phono section. Enjoy the ST-70.
  11. If you have hearing issues stay with Spotify. I'm 67 and don't ....yet and but you can't predict the future. Streaming can be quite confusing, yet can be done quite simply. I use an Arcam rPlay with the PlayFi app. The app allows access to all of the streaming services and internet radio. I control it from my iPad. I'm using Tidal. I have a MHDT Labs Orchid DAC , a tube amp and preamp driving Heresy III's. Tidal sounds excellent if the recording is good. Not all analog to digital transfers were remastered so some albums are so so. I have not had any significant issues with this set up.
  12. If YOU can't hear a difference and the music sounds good to YOU just enjoy.
  13. It should be quite good sounding. If it has not been checked out by a competent tech I'd do that before you power it up.
  14. Check this wire out. Quite good an inexpensive. https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/speaker-wire/supra-classic-1.6/bulk-cable-per-foot-15-awg/#tab-3
  15. Do some due diligence and check out Dennis Had's Inspire amplifiers. They can use many different out put tubes so you can decide for yourself which tube your ears prefer. https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&channel=ipad_bm&ei=fvpXXYDzHcaL5wLYhpOYDA&q=dennis+had+inspire+amplifier+&oq=dennis+had+inspire+amplifier+&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39j0i22i30l6.6921.6921..7441...0.2..0.72.72.1......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i71._HJqzdYPSgY&ved=0ahUKEwiAqvKP-4nkAhXGxVkKHVjDBMMQ4dUDCAo&uact=5
  16. I agree on Dennis' Inspire line.
  17. Will you be able to compare the amps before selling the QS?
  18. I'd talk to the tech about replacing all the film capacitors, including the Jensens.
  19. +1 QS is a sleeper company that makes excellent gear. 20 watts will be plenty with K-Horns.
  20. These are excellent and affordable. You may want to research them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-uF-600V-Military-Russian-Paper-In-Oil-PIO-Vintage-Audio-Capacitor-KBG-K-K/253777898791?hash=item3b16576d27:g:EygAAOSw5UdbWbuF
  21. Find a reputable repair shop. Now is not the time to DIY.
  22. Try some Supra wire from Sweden. It's tin plated copper wire, sounds great and is not expensive. Google it.
  23. Look at the Inspire amps and preamps designed and built by Dennis Had the retired founder of Cary Audio. They perform well above their price point. Search inspire amplifier dennis had

    45 amps

I agree and I regret selling my Korneff 45. I ran it with EML solid plate 45's. NOS 45's paled in comparison. If you try them you will be AMAZED. FWIW, I preferred the solid plate over the mesh plate.
  25. Supra wire from Sweden is very good and won't break the bank. http://www.jenving.com/products/classic-4
