  1. The real problem I see is the difficulty designing for both modes since finer tuning is different for triode and ultralinear, it takes more than just a simple switch between the tube and OPTs. FWIW I had a Line Magnetic LM216IA that I preferred in triode. At my listening levels in my system there was no difference between 22 watts and 38.
  2. This has not been my experience with amplifiers that can switch between triode and ultralinear or pentode. Perhaps you mean gain?
  3. How does your Marantz and Aiyima compare to the ACA and Fisher?
  4. Yes when AS came into existence. 😉 Before Novak and later Thiele and Small knowing a box could be used as resonator didn't automatically mean good sound. Open baffle/panel speakers have existed for a very long time, probably all the way back to 1924? and the first moving coil loudspeaker.
  5. Any updates? Did you or anyone notice much difference with the new caps?
  6. I assume most members here are like me and given the choice between a crappy non musical subwoofer or no subwoofer the choice would be no subwoofer. So maybe more like putting large spongy wheels on a VW.

  8. RME ADI 2 FS dac/pre Not a lot of XLR subwoofers so xlr to rca cables for sub, rca for both with Y cables, or subwoofers with speaker level inputs.
  9. @RobMarshall Do you use subwoofers with the H4s?
  10. Were you able to take a look at the link and the comments in the 3rd paragraph? Horns bright? The crossover must be out of spec or a bad design.
  11. Input sensitivity: 9V 18dB less gain than their other amplifiers. https://quicksilveraudio.com/products/horn-mono-amp/
  12. https://www.musicalparadise.ca/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=54 DIY but should be able to find someone build it for you if needed. Built amps often come up for sale. https://www.tubedepot.com/products/elekit-tu-8200-stereo-tube-amplifier-kit Victor might be able to help: https://www.vkmusic.ca/ Dennis Had Inspire (search on Ebay) will build one of his for you. He is retired after starting several successful businesses including Cary Audio.
  13. How long have you had them? How many hours would you say you have listened to them?
  14. I had to make new ones after I destroyed the original panels because they had been glued. The guy that did it was a wood worker/finisher and obviously not a speaker guy. He put the 17? screws back in and fortunately only used a little glue near the edges so I was able to get it off without damaging the wood inside.
  15. The listing is no longer active.
  16. Normally a preamp with gain and multiple inputs, but no phono stage. In your system I assume you are using the Vincent PHO-701 directly into the Elekit 300B which is an amplifier with an input level control. Looks like it should work, only one way to know for sure.
  17. In REL's own words: "While it might trade off a touch of the speed, clarity, and deepest bass that our standard models, like the T/9x, are known for,......" ^ Would cause me* to pass and get a different model to pair with La Scalas. *former very satisfied REL T/7i (x 2) owner; sold the subwoofers when I sold the excellent ATC SCM 11v2s stand mounts they were used with
  18. The Denon is 45W/8 ohms and the NAD is 50W/8 ohms. Why is the Denon inferior quality?
  19. I thought maybe they are a little squeaky so some oil would be included.
