Deang
Best I can do. It was burned almost all the way down to the foil. The heat was so intense it melted the solder joints.
Deang
The hole was filled/patched with Epoxy Paste and smoothed.

Marvel
Dean, I worked on 3 phase motor controllers that came in for repair looking like that. I had to cut out the burned places completely, to get rid of the carbon, otherwise they would arc when put back into service. I filled the holes with epoxy, too. Seemed to work pretty well. JJkizak
Our old GE radar had huge tanks of oil covering circuit boards with 65,000 volts applied and we had to gouge out the valleys of arcing on the boards and fill with epoxy. Then test the oil and filter it for 100,000 volts rating. It was awfull. JK
Kriton
Dean - what the hell speaker was that out of (without mentioning any names or owners etc) - if that isn't an RF cup, what is it? Heresy 2? I am just curious! B
Deang
Out of some KLF-20s someone picked up. The previous owner did it, not the new owner. I was even worried that the HF coils might have shorted, but it they were fine.
mark1101
I'm just guessing but whatever melted that resistor had to be going on for a little while. I doubt that happened instantaneously.
BEC
How was the tweeter doing in that KLF-20? It should have had about 25 watts applied to it to cook that resistor. Bob
