My new company name

Great stuff guys! I appreciate the effort and I will consider each and every name carefully before making a decision. [;)]

Here's my latest

Key Audio

Audio Czar

Audio 207 (Maine's only area code)

Seventh Audio

Still no clear winner, thinking about lots of different things. Need to try them out for a while before deciding. Kinda like when you think you want to buy something, if you hang a picture of it up on the refrigerator for a week and then decide if you still want it.

Anyone remember "Trace Elliot"? I think that company is gone now...

Nope, they're still being made. Now owned by Peavey, of Meridian, Mississippi. Same cool logo
How about that Commando 100?

It was a fine little amp once the speaker was attached to the motorboard.

Oh yeah, the output transistors keep going dead :(

Maybe it was a made in the UK problem ?

It wasn't bad though once it was all sorted and I kinda like the green carpet.

The funny thing being I don't even remember why I picked that amp tobegin with.

MTV ;-)

Not really.

At the time I wanted an SWR Baby Blue II (I think the two was out at that point).

In the end I lived with the Trace Elliott for a little over a year and then bought a Gallien Krueger 700RB head and a 210RBH cab.

About a year after I bought the GK I lent the TE to a friend of mine and that's when it blew up.

Marvel fixed it and all was well.

A year later I again lent it to the same friend and it blew up again :(

We tried fixing it again but this time it was still acting weird after replacing the output transistors.

I haven't bothered messing with it since then as I've got the GK and it is way more amp.

I wouldn't mind having it fixed.

We might want to try some of those heavier duty output transistors.

It might be cool to see if Dennis could suggest some mods to tighten up the sound a little.

I've also thought about ditching the stock cab and making it a head and cab.

I prefer head/cab arrangements for transport and variety, and backup.

Of course, the question may be: what are they plugging it into that causes it to keep blowing up. Maybe a lesson in paralell vs series is in order. :-) (or maybe the cab is the better place to investigate?).

Or maybe TE's just blow up. :-) Getting out of my range of technical expertise.

EARGASM!

I think it's great, but it pretty much cuts out my church business.
Bobby

I like it.

Simlarly, it's always fun to discuss the 'Aphex Aural Exciter' in public.

I have one of the late 70's (Columbia?) loss leader LP's, 'Deep Ear', replete with risque cartoon graphics.

Perhaps it went something like this: (à la Stan Freberg)

producer: So, we need a cover for Deep Ear.

graphics guy: umm, ok. You mean like the movie?

producer: yup

graphics guy: umm, ok, so, um.. how about a ...big ear

producer: yes, hmm, ok

graphics guy: ...that looks like a #####?

producer: brilliant. Lunch?

After the second time it blew up, or more accurately it went pfffft, my friends dad mentioned to me that lightbulbs didn't last very long in their house so I think it had something to do with too much voltage on the mains. I like seperates as well, my mesa boogie mk iii is a combo with a single 12 and it weighs over 60 lbs..

I finally settled on

Volti Audio

Pronounced Vawl-tee

I learned more about the real meaning of the word volti. It is used on sheet music to indicate to the players to turn the page. Kind of like the word (over) at the bottom of a page. Volti Subito means to turn the page without delay, presumably because you will be playing notes on the other side very quickly.

I like the musical reference to the word, and the idea of turning the page on speaker design.
