Moderators dtel Posted July 21, 2010 Moderators Share Posted July 21, 2010 This is enough to ruin your day and your under ware ! [] Your sailing along enjoying yourself and a whale bigger than your boat jumps out the water and smashes your boat, you must be doing something really wrong for you to have this kind of luck. BUT lucky enough to have someone taking pictures at the right time, sounds fishy? http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20100721/od_yblog_upshot/beware-of-jumping-whales-when-sailing-off-the-coast-of-south-africa
cornholio
That is one messed up looking Whale, seems to be missing a couple of fins. Yes it looks real fishy here is a link with a slightly better picture Maybe it is real http://www.vancouversun.com/travel/Whale+smashes+into+boat+carrying+incident+caught+camera/3306730/story.html
BigStewMan
it's actually happened to me twice; but, neither time i was able to capture it on camera. the second time, i went for the camera; but, the whale got there first. They really don't like being photographed. Not sure about the south african whales; but, the ones we have around here are particularly moody. Coytee
Just noticed a story about it on the weather channel. The video is not of the whale but rather, the interview with the boat owners. http://www.weather.com/outlook/videos/huge-whale-jumps-onto-sailboat-17810
