mark1101
I just bought an HD-500 system a couple of weeks ago. Still no sign of fire at my house.

Thaddeus Smith
Seems like some bs to me agreed. conveniently left out of the description is how he covered it in lighter fluid and lit it with a match.
mark1101
You know I never looked that closely at it.............the speaker cone is not burned..........but the grill is. It almost looks like the fire came from the outside. Good catch fellas. I just hope mine don't burn.
CECAA850
agreed. conveniently left out of the description is how he covered it in lighter fluid and lit it with a match. Spontaneously.
Audio Android
[bs]....If the fire started from inside at the coil, the spider would be ashes.
derrickdj1
It will be interesting to see what happens since he is blaming Klipsch. Sounds like it will be sorted out by lawyers.
CECAA850
....If the fire started from inside at the coil, the spider would be ashes. Not if it started in the tweeter. I can't really see it that well. Just playing devils advocate.
mustang guy
I find it interesting that this was the guy's one and only post. Here are before/after pictures: Obviously it burned with the grille on.
Moderators dtel Posted October 3, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 3, 2012 I find it interesting that this was the guy's one and only post. Here are before/after pictures True, if I had a speaker burst into flames to the point of looking like that you could not stop me from complaining and posting more pictures from what else was burned because of it, because I would be shocked to say the least. I have no idea if the story is true, but even if it is, things like this do not happen from normal use, I don't see how ?
Mongo171
When someone mentioned he needed more power to drive them, he used a higher octane gasoline.

Thaddeus Smith
everyone really should be more alarmed by this. it could be a farce, but it could also put the heat on Klipsch if he holds their feet to the fire. The whole company could meltdown. the last thing we need is for Klipsch to go up in smoke. hopefully this hotbed of coals just fizzles out into ash.. Mongo171
I have seen people over-power speakers and they never caused enough flame to do this to a speaker. I agree that, if pushed, this could cause Klipsch a problem. I also agree that this seems like someone lit them on fire. Maybe for insurance fraud? Who really knows. mark1101
You can do a search on the net and find that there was a particular model of Adcom amplifier that when it failed it would burn speakers just like that picture. There are a few pictures posted of speakers that burned from these old Adcom amps..............so it could be real. We just don't know.
