longdrive03
In the middle of this project. Just about to get to finishing stage. A few pics of how I got to where I am now. Using aircraft grade wood backed cherry veneer on sides and motor board with solid 3/4" cherry on top and side trim. 1.25" thick motor board (3/4" mdf and 1/2" ply). Lots of glue. More later.

Schu
Did the internal volume change?
Heritage_Head
Really cool Cant wait to see when its finished.
longdrive03
Thanks for compliments guys. Internal dimension are right at 4cf like RF7 according to my Jethro Bodein (sp???) math.
Heritage_Head
Is the internal the size of rf7 or rf7ii. They are different.
moray james
Is the internal the size of rf7 or rf7ii. They are different. Cinema_heds: RF7 dimensions are 45" x 11.6" x 16" 3db down at 30 Hz RF7 ll dimensions are 48.5" x 11.6" x 16.3" 3db down at 32 Hz That's not much of a volume difference and could easily fudged with the addition of some acoustical damping material. Larger cabinet volumes are most always being better than smaller and vent tuning is easy to adjust up or down a little by ear is fine. Typical differences in total room volume can have similar impact on speakers. Best regards Moray James.
longdrive03
Internal cabinet size is same as RF7ii - approx 4cf.
longdrive03
Cinama_head you are correct. RF7ii is about 3.94cf v RF7 3.65 (inside dimensions subtracting 1.5" from outside dimensions for cabinet wall thickness and not subtracting for drivers/bracing/vent etc displacement). Paducah Home Theater
I've often wondered if you could do this same thing in a shallow box and run it as a center behind a screen.
longdrive03
You could use a smaller cabinet and tune it higher to use as a cc. Should be able to input the drive specs and get the right box size for 60-70hz f3. Port lengths would definitely change. You could probably go deeper to make up some volume. Or you could use 30"H x 15"w x 15" d internal dimensions which give you about 4cf and use the same ports.
Dr Morbius
By the way, it's Jethro Bodine and he's still running his restaurant "The Happy Gizzard".
Arash
wow that cabinetry deserves some expensive Scanspeak/Audio Technology drivers to turn into something diabolical good job!
longdrive03
Nearly finished. I have 6 coats of poly on now with one more to go. Paint backs and bottom and build grill frames and install components and I'll be doing some listening and testing.
