If the umps determined the runner could not reach the base in a straight line, even without a throw they could have declared interference and called the runner at first out. But I DO know history and that this is a historic game in the making. Found it on the radio and am listening. Gotta root for the Cubbies after 118 years. The Indians wait since '48 don't match.
