Ceptorman
Very nice. That's a lot of cutting. Keep the photos coming, these threads are always interesting.

avguytx
I at least wanted to show I was making progress after posting about it on here for almost 2 years. Cut wood isn't major exciting since there's no shape to it, I know, but it's something I guess.
avguytx
One motorboard done...starting on second.
longdrive03
AVGUYTX, Glad to see you knocking these out!! Work looks great - clean and accurate - much better than mine. Heavy lifting is over, for a minute, until you start putting them together!!! I built a rolling stand to assemble on so I could spin it around and move it out of the way. You've got it down. If you need my Craftsmen jig to cut the ramps let me know. Keep posting the pics
avguytx
Thanks, Ken. I used to be darn good with straight line cuts with jig saws but it seems in my older age, it's tougher. ha. I had thought about rigging a jig up to make those cut outs with the router instead but decided not to. Even with good jig saw blades and going slow, you still have areas where it "ripples" down the cut. Irks me. It will be Saturday before I get to work on them some more as Friday night I'm escorting my daughter (a Senior this year) at Homecoming on the football field so no work that night. haha
avguytx
Got a little progress done today I guess. I had to go get new tires put on my truck this morning and then to the store to buy a beef brisket that's going on the smoker overnight. That alone is a lot of prep time...but worth it. I worked on the ramps today. Built a jig to get that awkward angle cut on the 8 ramp pieces and it worked like a champ.

codewritinfool
May not be an issue, but for anyone building a clone, you might consider rotating the mounting holes for the woofer a bit (22.5 degrees, I think). The reason is that upper and lower T-nut is right where the diverters (ramps) are, and any excessive screw length used for woofer mounting will impinge on the diverter joint. If you clock everything it ends up putting the T-nuts where they won't hit the diverters at all.
avguytx
I'd thought about that before I drilled for the threaded inserts. I took a piece of scrap Baltic birch and went across the 2 farthest woofer holes and set two inserts. Then I screwed the 1.25" 10-32 bolts in and they didn't protrude out the other side. The new K-33 woofer gaskets are pretty thick.

avguytx
The dog houses are almost done. Have to put diverters on one more side but it was getting late... Still good progress.
JohnJ
Nicely equipped shop you've got there @avguytx . Good luck with those Belles!
avguytx
Oh, it's nothing real fancy for tools overall. Most I've acquired and kept since I started in car audio installs back in the mid 80's. Others I've picked up thru the years. Hopefully the next house I'll have a separate shop to do all my work in. Right now the garage is quite crowded...but it works I guess.

JohnJ
I don't even have a garage anymore... I know you'll be sure to blow out all that sawdust when you star to put a finish on those.
TasDom
Do you have plans to apply veneer on these?
avguytx
Oh yeah....there will be no sawdust in there when they get their finish. Ha. Still debating on either painting them a satin black/lacquer with cane grills similar to Matthews La Scalas or veneer and stained. I've already got factory grills for the tops that are black cloth so I'd have to build new ones if i go cane grills. I dont want to pull 800 staples.
longdrive03
Most excellent project and work. Your shop seems to be cleaner than mine - I wonder why!??? You'll be jammin before long.
avguytx
I'm only showing the side of my garage that looks decent! Ha. The other side is still rather messy with things I need to get put up in the attic that I moved from moms house.
